A fuel price API for Canada

Last updated:

Cardog's fuel API: stations near a point with their pump prices in Canadian cents per litre, and the daily price for Canada, a province or a postal area.

Cardog has a fuel price API for Canada. GET /v2/fuel/stations finds the fuel stations near any point, nearest or cheapest first, each with its current pump price for every fuel it sells. GET /v2/fuel/prices gives the daily price for Canada, a province or a postal area, with the median, the cheap end and the expensive end. Prices are in Canadian cents per litre, as posted. One credit a request, drawn from the same balance as every other call, including the Free plan's 50 credits a month.

Stations near a point

curl "https://api.cardog.app/v2/fuel/stations?lat=43.9421&lng=-79.3797&radius_km=5&fuel=regular&sort=price" \
  -H "x-api-key: $CARDOG_API_KEY" \
  -H "Cardog-Version: 2026-10-26"
  • A radius, in kilometres. radius_km defaults to 10 and goes up to 100. limit returns up to 100 stations.
  • Nearest or cheapest. sort=distance puts the nearest first. sort=price with a fuel puts the cheapest current card price first.
  • Every fuel, every payment. Regular, midgrade, premium, diesel, E85 and propane, each priced by card and, where a station posts it, by cash.
  • Prices you can trust the age of. Every price carries postedAt. A current price is the newest one for that fuel, at most 7 days old.
  • The station itself. Name, brand, address, the fuels it sells, amenities such as pay at the pump, a convenience store and restrooms, and opening hours.

The daily price for an area

curl "https://api.cardog.app/v2/fuel/prices?area=CA-ON&fuel=regular&days=90" \
  -H "x-api-key: $CARDOG_API_KEY" \
  -H "Cardog-Version: 2026-10-26"
  • Three sizes of area. CA for the whole country, a province such as CA-ON or CA-BC, or a postal forward sortation area such as L3Y.
  • A distribution, not one number. Each day has the median, the 10th and 90th percentiles, the mean and the number of stations behind it.
  • Up to a year of history. days runs from 1 to 365, oldest day first, with the newest day also returned as latest.

Built to join

  • One ref per place. A station's ref is its location ref, poi:{geohash}, the same one /v2/locations serves. It is set by where the station stands, so it does not change when the name or brand does.
  • Fuel types that match vehicles. Each price carries a fuel-type ref, such as fuel-type:gasoline, the same refs Cardog's vehicle specs carry. A vehicle's fuel type joins straight to what that fuel costs.
  • One key for the rest. The same key decodes VINs, lists recalls, serves spec sheets, and finds EV chargers and dealers near the same point.

What you can build

  1. A cheapest-fuel finder. Search a radius with sort=price for the fuel the driver's car takes.
  2. A fleet fuel report. Compare what a fleet paid with the daily median and the 10th to 90th percentile band for the same area and day.
  3. A price chart. Plot a province or postal area over the last 365 days.

Start

Sign up on the Free plan with no card, create a key, and call /v2/fuel/stations. Every request costs one credit. Paid plans start at US$30 a month. The fuel docs have every field, and the locations docs show how a station joins its chargers and dealers.
