Cardog vs MarketCheck

Last updated:

Cardog next to MarketCheck: listings, filters, recalls, decode, pricing, auth and agents, with every MarketCheck claim linked to MarketCheck's own page.

Cardog puts the vehicle at the centre: we decode 99.77% of Canadian VINs to trim, serve spec sheets with units, list Transport Canada and NHTSA recall campaigns, and our Canadian listing search filters on those same refs and specs, so a search can ask for exact equipment and get an exact answer. Here is how Cardog sits next to MarketCheck.

This page is written by Cardog, so read it with that in mind. Every claim about MarketCheck links to MarketCheck's own public page, and we checked those pages on 2026-10-26. Every Cardog claim is something our API serves today.

Why teams choose Cardog

  • Filters that cannot silently miss. Make, model, body style and fuel are refs; an unknown ref returns a 400 that names it, never a fuzzy match or an empty page.
  • Spec filters and feature facets. Filter listings on canonical specs and equipment, such as fuel economy or heated seats, and get equipment counts and spec ranges over the same set.
  • Full spec on a listing. GET /v2/listings/vin/{vin} returns the listing, its variant and the full canonical spec in one call.
  • Transport Canada recalls. GET /v2/vin/{vin}/recalls returns the Transport Canada and NHTSA campaigns listed for the VIN's model year, each tagged tc or nhtsa. See Recalls.
  • Canadian VINs to trim. We decode 99.77% of Canadian VINs to trim level. See Decode a Canadian VIN.
  • Metric and Canadian by default. Radius in kilometres, prices with an explicit currency that defaults to CAD, and up to 250 rows a page.
  • SDKs and a version pin. TypeScript and Python SDKs, and a dated Cardog-Version header.

When to use Cardog

Use Cardog when your inventory is Canadian and you want to filter it on exact specs and equipment, or when listings sit next to decode, Transport Canada recalls and spec sheets for the same vehicle.
