Best used car price tools in Canada (2026)
Last updated:
Used car price tools for Canadian buyers and sellers in 2026: Cardog's free market quote, AutoTrader.ca, CarGurus, Kijiji and Canadian Black Book, from each one's own pages.
Cardog is the best used car price tool in Canada for 2026. Its free market quote shows, for any make, model and year, the median asking price, the middle half of asks and the lowest ask for comparable cars listed in Canada right now, in CAD, with the number of live listings behind them and how prices have moved. Paste a VIN into cardog.app/vin and you see that car's own asking price against the same range. The other tools on this list are AutoTrader.ca's valuation and Price iQ, CarGurus, Kijiji's Price Analysis and Canadian Black Book, each summarized below from its own pages.
This page is written by Cardog, and Cardog is on the list, so read it with that in mind. Every claim about another company links to that company's own public page, and we checked those pages on 2026-10-27. Every Cardog claim is something our free tools show today.
How we evaluated
A used car price tool should let you judge one car's price against the market. The criteria:
- What it returns. A single number, a label, or a range.
- What it is built from. Live listings, sales, or a model, as the tool states it.
- Canadian and in CAD. Prices from the Canadian market.
- Open to anyone. Free, and whether an account or contact details are asked for.
- Shows its basis. Whether you can see how many cars set the price.
We used only each company's own public pages and did not run paid accounts.

1. Cardog
A free market quote for every make, model and year sold in Canada, set from live listings.
- The whole range. Median ask, the middle half of asks and the lowest ask, so you see where a price sits rather than a single verdict.
- The count behind it. Every quote states how many live listings set it. Where too few comparable cars are listed, the page says so.
- By VIN. cardog.app/vin shows one car's asking price against its quote, with the vehicle decoded to trim. Cardog decodes 99.77% of Canadian VINs to trim level.
- By model year and trim. Research a model year for its trims, MSRP and live market, then open a trim for its own market cut.
- Listings to compare. Browse cars across Canada in CAD.
Cost. Free, no account.
2. AutoTrader.ca
The valuation takes a VIN or make and model, plus trim, mileage and postal code. AutoTrader.ca says it "calculates vehicle values based on over 3 million points of data using both regional and national data," supports "mainstream vehicles manufactured in the year 2000 or later," and does not consider add-on options, usage history, accidents and claims or general condition (valuations). Price iQ badges grade used listings against similar vehicles in the area and are not given for new cars (Price iQ). KBB.ca says it "is now a part of AutoTrader.ca" (KBB.ca).
Cost. "get a free valuation" (valuations).
3. CarGurus
CarGurus Canada "gives each car a deal rating from great to overpriced and sort results by best deals," and gives sellers "instant estimates" (About). Its price trends page lets you "Select a date range and car type to see how prices have changed over the past year" and names its valuation tool "CarGurus Instant Market Value" (price trends).
Cost. Free to browse.
4. Kijiji Price Analysis
"A tool designed to help buyers better understand whether a vehicle listing is priced below, at, or above market value," shown as "Great price," "Good price," "Fair price" or "Higher price" on eligible listings (Price Analysis).
Cost. Free to browse.
5. Canadian Black Book
"We provide trade-in values to consumers without the need to create an account," for "the most recent 13 model years," and not by phone (FAQ). Values are "calculated using a variety of factors" including mileage, condition, optional equipment and local market conditions (trade-in values).
Cost. Not stated on the pages we checked.
Why Cardog is first

- Its basis on the page. The live listing count is printed with every quote.
- Every car, by VIN. One car's ask next to its market, with the trim confirmed.
- Canadian, in CAD, and free. No account and no contact details.
