Issue: On certain vehicles, the electronic brake booster (EBB) may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the EBB could enter a failsafe mode and cause a sudden increase in brake pedal force. This could also cause certain advanced driver assistance systems not to work properly. Safety Risk: A sudden increase in brake pedal force can cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, driver assistance systems that don't work properly could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the EBB.
Issue: On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the instrument panel cluster not to display when the vehicle is started. As a result, you may not be able to see certain information about the vehicle, including the speedometer, fuel gauge, warning lights and malfunction tell-tales. Safety Risk: Warnings, tell-tales and gauges that don't display could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the instrument panel cluster module software.
Issue: Under certain conditions, a software problem could cause the electronic brake booster motor to shut down. If this happens, there could be a sudden increase in brake pedal force. This could also cause certain driver assistance systems not to work properly. Note: This problem would cause the antilock braking system (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC) and brake warning lights to turn on, warning messages to display in the instrument cluster and a warning chime to sound. Safety Risks: A sudden increase in brake pedal force can cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, driver assistance systems that don't work properly could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update to eligible vehicles to update the electronic brake booster module software. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the update performed at a Ford dealership.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the left-rear door may be opened from the inside when the child safety lock is in the ''ON'' position. Note: This recall only affects 4-door models. Safety Risk: A child safety lock that doesn't work correctly could allow a door to be opened from inside the vehicle and could increase the risk of injury. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the left-rear door latch.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the passenger-front airbag active vent flap may not open during a crash. If this happens, the airbag could deploy with too much force. Safety Risk: An airbag that inflates with too much force could create an increased risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the passenger-front airbag module.
