Issue: On certain trucks, the passenger-side seat belt anchor may not have been secured to the floor properly. As a result, the seat belt could detach in a crash. Safety Risk: A seat belt that detaches could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: Volvo Trucks will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to reinforce the passenger-side seat belt anchor.
Issue: On certain trucks, poor signal strength could cause the electronic control unit (ECU) to stop working or not to work properly. As a result, some safety systems may not work, including the antilock braking system, automatic traction control, electronic stability control, active cruise control and the collision mitigation system. Note: For the VNR model, this recall affects only the VNRe model. Safety Risks: Vehicle safety systems that don't work correctly could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Volvo will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to reprogram the ECU software.
Issue: On certain trucks, the gears in the windshield wiper motor could wear. If this happens, the windshield wipers may not work. Safety Risk: Windshield wipers that don't work could reduce visibility and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Volvo Trucks will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to replace the windshield wiper motor.
Issue: On certain trucks, the tail lamps do not turn on when the daytime running lamps (DRLs) are on. New Canadian regulations require that, if a vehicle has dash backlighting, the low beam headlamps and tail lamps must automatically switch on when it is dark or the tail lamps must stay on at all times. Safety Risk: Driving without tail lamps in low light conditions could make the truck less visible and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Volvo Trucks will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to update the vehicle software.
Issue: On certain trucks, the hubcaps may be defective and could come loose or detach while driving. Safety Risk: A hubcap that detaches from the truck could create a road hazard for others. Corrective Actions: Volvo Trucks will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to remove the hubcaps.
