Issue: On certain trucks, the passenger-side seat belt anchor may not have been secured to the floor properly. As a result, the seat belt could detach in a crash. Safety Risk: A seat belt that detaches could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: Volvo Trucks will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to reinforce the passenger-side seat belt anchor.

Summary

Issue: On certain trucks, poor signal strength could cause the electronic control unit (ECU) to stop working or not to work properly. As a result, some safety systems may not work, including the antilock braking system, automatic traction control, electronic stability control, active cruise control and the collision mitigation system. Note: For the VNR model, this recall affects only the VNRe model. Safety Risks: Vehicle safety systems that don't work correctly could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Volvo will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to reprogram the ECU software.

Summary

Summary

Issue: On certain trucks, the tail lamps do not turn on when the daytime running lamps (DRLs) are on. New Canadian regulations require that, if a vehicle has dash backlighting, the low beam headlamps and tail lamps must automatically switch on when it is dark or the tail lamps must stay on at all times. Safety Risk: Driving without tail lamps in low light conditions could make the truck less visible and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Volvo Trucks will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to update the vehicle software.

They will be repaired or replaced, as required.

Summary

Issue: On certain trucks, the t-bolts for the transmission air tank straps may have been over-tightened. This could cause the straps to deform and allow the air tank to drop to the ground. If the air tank detaches, the transmission would not shift. Safety Risk: An air tank that completely detaches from the truck could create a road hazard for others. A transmission that does not shift properly could increase the risk of a crash. Summary

Certain vehicles may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 - Lighting System and Retro reflective Devices. The headlamps may not meet the minimum intensity requirements prescribed by the standard. Insufficient illumination of distant object or the roadway by the headlamps could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the sealed beam headlamps.
