Summary

Issue: On certain vehicles, the cells inside the high-voltage battery module(s) may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the battery could overheat. Safety Risk: A battery that overheats can create a fire risk, even while the vehicle is parked and turned off. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, Volkswagen advises that you should set the maximum charge setting of your vehicle at 80%, that you shouldn't use level 3 quick charging and that you should park your vehicle outdoors and away from other vehicles or structures until the recall repairs have been completed. Volkswagen will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the high-voltage battery module(s).

Issue: Under certain circumstances, a software problem could cause the ''N'' (Neutral) gear position not to display on the instrument cluster. As a result, you may not be aware when the transmission is in neutral. If his happens, and brakes or parking brake aren't used, the vehicle could roll away. Note: For the Q4 e-tron model, this recall affects both SUV and Sportback models. Safety Risk: A vehicle that rolls away could create the risk of an injury or a crash. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, the company recommends that you should use the parking brake and confirm the parking brake indicator light is on when you park. The company will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the brake control unit software.
