Summary
Issue: On certain vehicles, the wiring for the passenger occupant detection system (PODS) may not have been manufactured properly. This could cause the airbag system to turn off the passenger-front airbag even when a passenger is seated. Note: This problem would cause an error message to display on the instrument panel and a warning chime to sound. The airbag indicator light would also display "passenger airbag off". Safety Risk: An airbag that is turned off could increase the risk of injury to a passenger in a crash. Corrective Actions: Volkswagen advises that you shouldn't use the front passenger seat if a PODS error message displays on the instrument panel or if the airbag indicator light displays "passenger airbag off" with an occupant in the seat. Volkswagen will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to repair the passenger-front seat wiring harness.
Summary
Issue: On a small number of vehicles, the cells inside the high-voltage battery module(s) may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the battery could overheat. Safety Risk: A battery that overheats can create a fire risk, even while the vehicle is parked and turned off. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, Volkswagen advises that you should set the maximum charge setting of your vehicle at 80%, that you shouldn't use level 3 quick charging and that you should park your vehicle outdoors and away from other vehicles or structures until the recall repairs have been completed. Volkswagen will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the high-voltage battery module(s).
Summary
Issue: On a small number of vehicles, the wrong wheel bolts may have been installed. As a result, the wheel bolt(s) can loosen and cause the wheel(s) to detach. Safety Risk: A wheel separation could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a wheel that separates could create a road hazard for others. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, Volkswagen advises you not to drive the vehicle until the recall repairs have been completed. None of the affected vehicles have been delivered to customers. Volkswagen will instruct dealers to inspect and, if necessary, replace the incorrect wheel bolt(s) before the vehicles are delivered.
Summary
Issue: On certain vehicles, the front seat belt(s) may have been damaged during production. As a result, the seat belt(s) may not hold a person in place during a crash. Note: For the Q4 E-Tron model, this recall affects both Sportback and SUV models. Safety Risk: A seat belt that doesn't work properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the front seat belt(s), as necessary.
Summary
Issue: On a small number of vehicles, the rear tie rod bolt(s) may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the bolt(s) could loosen and cause a loss of vehicle stability. Safety Risk: A loss of vehicle stability could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Volkswagen will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the rear tie rod bolt(s).

Issue: On certain vehicles, certain bolt(s) on the chassis, brake system and/or suspension may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the bolt(s) could loosen and cause a loss of control. Safety Risk: A loss of control could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Volkswagen will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the affected bolt(s) on the chassis, brake system and/or suspension.
Summary
Issue: On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to display properly. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display properly when the transmission is shifted into reverse gear. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that doesn't display properly could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Volkswagen will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the infotainment display software.
Summary
Issue: On certain vehicles, the third-row bench seat may be wide enough for three passengers but is only equipped with two seat belts. As a result, the seat may not meet certain requirements of Canadian regulations. Safety Risk: Not wearing a seat belt can increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, Volkswagen advises that you shouldn't transport more than two passengers in the third-row bench seat. Volkswagen will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to install trims on the third-row bench seat to adjust the width.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the brake system malfunction tell-tale may be the wrong colour. Canadian regulations require certain colours for the brake system malfunction tell-tale. Safety Risk: A tell-tale that's the wrong colour could create confusion and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Volkswagen will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the vehicle software.
Summary
Issue: On certain vehicles, the on-board charger (OCDC) could fail. As a result, the 12 V battery will not charge and could cause a loss of power to the wheels. Note: This problem will cause warning lights to turn on and warning messages to display before any loss of power. Safety Risk: A loss of power to the wheels may increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the on-board charger (OCDC).
