Infiniti Q50 Recalls

Summary

Issue: On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the navigation screen/multifunction control touch screen not to work when the vehicle is started. If this happens, the rearview camera image will not appear on the display. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse gear. Note: This can happen if the "privacy mode" feature is activated and the vehicle is not started in the following 14 days. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that does not display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Action: Infiniti will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to update the telematics control unit (TCU).

Summary

Issue: On certain vehicles, the front steering knuckles may not have been properly heat-treated. As a result, a strong impact (such as hitting a curb) could cause a steering knuckle to bend or break. If this happens, the steering wheel may become off-center or there could be a loss of steering control and a wheel could separate. Safety Risk: A loss of steering control and/or a wheel separation could increase the risk of a crash. A wheel that separates could also hit another person or vehicle. Corrective Actions: Nissan will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the production date on the casting stamp of the front steering knuckles. Parts that are affected by this problem will be replaced.

Summary

Issue: On certain vehicles, a programming error in the engine control module (ECM) could cause loss of engine power and/or cause the engine to stall. Note: The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) may turn on before an engine stall happens. Safety Risk: A loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Infiniti will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to reprogram the ECM software.

Summary

Issue: On certain vehicles, the rear view camera system does not return to the default setting when the transmission is shifted to reverse. This could cause a reduction in rear visibility if a driver had previously adjusted the camera display. Canadian regulations require that the rear view image returns to its original setting each time the camera is turned on. Safety Risk: Reduced rear visibility could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to update the software for the rear view camera.

Summary

On certain vehicles, and incorrect fuel pressure map was used in the Fuel Pump Control Module (FPCM) software as a result, the pressure regulator may fail to open to send fuel from the sub tank to the main tank. Under certain conditions, the fuel level in the main tank could be too low for the fuel pump to send fuel to the engine resulting in a loss of motive power, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will update the software for the Fuel Pump Control Module.

Summary

On certain vehicles, a combination of low battery voltage at engine start up (~7 volts) and the vehicle being parked with the wheels turned could cause an error in the Direct Adaptive Steering ECU. This could cause the steering wheel to be off centered and the VDC warning lamp to illuminate. If operated this way, this could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will update the Direct Adaptive Steering ECU.

Summary

On certain vehicles, a defect in the occupant classification system could allow an adult sitting in the front passenger seat to be classified as a child or an “empty seat”. This would suppress the airbag, which could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Correction: For affected Altima, Maxima, Murano, Rogue and Sentra vehicles, dealers will reprogram the airbag control unit and the occupant classification system control unit. For affected Leaf, NV200, Pathfinder, Q50 and JX35/QX60 vehicles, dealers will replace the occupant classification system electronic control unit.

Summary

On certain vehicles, the front passenger seat occupant classification system software may incorrectly classify the passenger seat as empty, when it is occupied by an adult. If this occurs, the passenger airbag would be deactivated without the illumination of the airbag warning lamp. Failure of the passenger airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the occupant classification system. This is an expansion of recall 2014-093.

Summary

On certain hybrid vehicles, the transmission housing may have been damaged during manufacturing. This could allow a crack in the housing to form, and could eventually result in a transmission housing fracture, which would result in debris being spread onto the roadway, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the transmission assembly if cracks are found during inspection.
