Issue: On certain vehicles, the windshield glass may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, air bubbles could appear in the windshield glass. Safety Risk: Air bubbles in the windshield glass could cause reduced visibility and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the windshield glass.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the trailer hitch bolts may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the bolts could loosen and the hitch could detach from the vehicle. Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with the trailer tow package. Safety Risk: A trailer hitch and/or towed trailer that detaches from a vehicle could create a road hazard for others and/or create the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, tighten or replace the trailer hitch bolts.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the body control module (BCM) may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the trailer taillights may not work when towing a trailer. Note: This problem could cause a trailer error message to display in the instrument cluster and various electrical systems not to work properly. Safety Risk: Trailer taillights that don't work could make the vehicle less visible to others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the BCM.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the trim for the seat fold switch on the second-row seats may not have been installed properly. As a result, the switch could become stuck. If this happens, the seat(s) could fold and/or move unexpectedly. Safety Risk: A seat that folds and/or moves could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Action: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the seat fold switch trim.
Issue: On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the powertrain control module (PCM) to reset while driving. If this happens, the parking pawl could become damaged. As a result, when the transmission is shifted to Park, the vehicle could move if the parking brake is not applied. Additionally, under certain conditions, there could be a loss of power to the wheels. Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with a 2.3 L engine. Safety Risk: A parked vehicle that rolls away could create the risk of an injury or a crash. A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the powertrain control module (PCM) software. The dealer will also inspect and, if necessary, replace the transmission.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the transmission valve body may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the reverse gear may not work, or the vehicle could move forward, when the reverse ("R") or neutral ("N") positions are selected. Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Safety Risk: A vehicle that moves unexpectedly could create the risk of an injury or a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the transmission main control valve body.
Issue: On a small number of vehicles, the bolts for the transmission crossmember may be missing or may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the transmission could move and cause a sudden loss of power to the wheels. Safety Risk: A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the transmission crossmember for any loose or missing bolts. The dealer will replace the bolts or the crossmember, as necessary.
Issue: Under certain conditions, a problem with the accessory protocol image module (APIM) software could cause the rearview camera image not to display. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the vehicle is reversing. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update to eligible vehicles to update the APIM software. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the update performed at a Ford dealership.
