Issue: On certain vehicles, the upper universal joint on the intermediate steering shaft may not have been manufactured properly and could break. As a result, the steering shaft could separate from the universal joint and cause a loss of steering. Safety Risk: A loss of steering could create the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Toyota will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the intermediate steering shaft.
Issue: On certain hybrid vehicles, a software problem could cause a sudden change in brake pedal feel and travel when the brakes are applied during a turn. This could cause temporary reduced braking. Safety Risk: Reduced braking can cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash.
