Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2016-2019 Lincoln MKC, 2016-2023 Explorer, 2019-2020 Fusion, 2019-2024 Ranger, 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair, Escape, 2021-2024 Bronco, Bronco Sport, and 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles. The engine block heater may crack and develop a coolant leak, causing it to short circuit when the block heater is plugged in.

Potential Consequence

An electrical short circuit can increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy

Owners are advised not to plug in their block heater until the vehicle is remedied. Dealers will replace the block heater, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed October 24, 2025. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated February 2026. Issue: On certain vehicles, the recall repairs completed by a Ford dealer during recall 22C22 (Transport Canada recall no. 2022-520) may not have been done correctly. As a result, a second repair is required. Under certain conditions, the parking lamps could flicker. As a result, the parking lights could be difficult to see. Canadian regulations require the parking lamps to stay on constantly when the headlights are turned on. Note: This recall only affects vehicles with LED parking lamps. Safety Risk: Parking lamps that don't work properly could make the vehicle less visible to others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the LED control module. The dealer will also update the body control module software.

This recall replaces Transport Canada recalls 2022-658, 2024-160 and 2025-134. Safety Risk: A fuel leak can create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail. As an interim repair, a dealer will update the engine control software to detect fuel injector leaks. Owners that have already received this software update will be informed that the interim repair is not required. Once the final repair is available, Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the high-pressure fuel rail assembly, high-pressure fuel injectors, and update the engine control software.

Issue: On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the vehicle is reversing. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Issue: On certain vehicles, the recall repairs completed by a Ford dealer during recall 24S24 (Transport Canada recall no. 2024-224) may not have been done correctly. As a result, a second repair is required. On certain vehicles, the powertrain control module (PCM) and body control module (BCM) may not detect a change in the charge level of the 12 V battery. As a result, the engine could stall. This could also cause the engine not to restart after a start-stop event and the hazard lights may not work. Safety Risk: A sudden loss of power to the wheels or a vehicle that doesn't restart after a start-stop event could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, hazard lamps that don't work could make the vehicle less visible and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the PCM and BCM software.
