Certain vehicles do not comply with the requirements of CMVSS 209 - Seat Belt Assemblies. The seat belt assemblies may not withstand the force requirements of the standard. In a crash, if the belt buckle fails, there is an increased risk of injury to the occupant. Correction: Belt buckle assemblies will be inspected and replaced if necessary.

Summary

On certain vehicles, the retaining bolts for the steering rack mounting brackets may not have been torqued to the proper specification. This could eventually cause the steering rack to become loose to the point where difficulty in steering the vehicle may be experienced. Correction: Dealers will check steering rack mounting bolt torque and if the torque is insufficient, new bolts will be installed.

THERE COULD BE A LOOSENESS IN THE STEERING, WHICH MAY BE ACCOMPANIED BY NOISE OR VIBRATION.

Remedy

DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE VEHICLES AND, IF THE BOLTS ARE MISSING, WILL REPLACE THE STEERING GEAR MOUNTING BOLTS. ALL BOLTS WILL BE TIGHTENED TO THE SPECIFIED TORQUE.

DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE DATE CODE ON CERTAIN SEAT BELT BUCKLES OF YOUR VEHICLE AND REPLACE ALL SEAT BELT BUCKLES THAT FALL WITHIN THE SUSPECT DATE CODE RANGE.
