Summary

Issue: Under certain conditions, a software problem could cause the passenger-front airbag to deploy with too much force. Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with the AT4X AEV (American Expedition Vehicle) option. Safety Risk: An airbag that inflates with too much force could create an increased risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update to eligible vehicles to update the airbag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the update performed at a GM dealership.

Summary

Issue: Under certain conditions, a software problem could cause the headlamps to flicker. Safety Risk: Headlamps that flicker could cause reduced visibility and could create a distraction for oncoming drivers. Both issues could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace a module in the headlamp that includes the correct software.

Summary

Issue: On certain vehicles, the lock ring that secures the fuel pump to the fuel tank may not have been locked properly. As a result, the lock ring could loosen and create a fuel leak. Safety Risk: A fuel leak can create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, lock the fuel tank lock ring.

Summary

Issue: Under certain conditions, a software problem with the front camera module could cause the Automatic Emergency Braking system (AEB) to falsely detect an obstacle and activate when it is not needed. If this happens, the system will stop or slow the vehicle down suddenly. Safety Risk: If the AEB system activates with braking when no potential collision is present, it could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the front camera module software.

Summary

Issue: On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the lower beam headlamps not to turn on as it becomes dark outside if the multi-function switch is in the "OFF" or "PARKING LAMP" position. This could also cause the daytime running lamps (DRLs) to turn off when the vehicle is moving. As a result, the vehicles may not meet certain requirements of Canadian regulations. Safety Risk: Headlamps and/or DRLs that don't turn on could reduce visibility, make the vehicle less visible to others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the body control module (BCM)software.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the tire and loading information label lists the incorrect capacity for occupants and cargo. This could lead to overloading the vehicle, which can cause poor handling and/or a tire failure. Safety Risk: Poor handling and/or a tire failure could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Action: General Motors will mail a new tire and loading information label to each owner. Issue: On certain trucks, a poor electrical connection could cause a sudden loss of power steering assist. Note: This recall does not include vehicles that were repaired under Transport Canada Recall 2016-043. Safety risk: A loss of power steering assist may result in a sudden increase in steering effort, especially at low vehicle speeds. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to replace the steering gear torque sensor cover assembly.
