THIS RECALL SUPERSEDES RECALL 90-27 FOR VEHICLES IN THE MARITIMES. THE THROTTLE MAY STICK IN AN OPEN POSITION DUE TO LINKAGE BINDING CAUSED BY CORROSION. THIS WOULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO RUN AT HIGHER THAN IDLE SPEED WHEN THE THROTTLE IS RELEASED AND COULD ADVERSELY AFFECT DRIVER CONTROL RESULTING IN A POSSIBLE CRASH. CORRECTION: A STAINLESS STEEL SLEEVE, WHICH WILL BE PLACED OVER THE HUB ON THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY, AND A SECONDARY THROTTLE LEVER TO FIT THE SLEEVE, ALONG WITH OTHER MOUNTING PARTS, WILL BE INSTALLED ON AFFECTED VEHICLES.
RANGER/BRONCO II - 2.9 LITRE ENGINES TAURUS/SABLE - 3.0 LITRE ENGINES NOTE: VEHICLES LOCATED IN NEWFOUNDLAND, NOVA SCOTIA, NEW BRUNSWICK AND PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND. THE THROTTLE MAY STICK IN AN OPEN POSITION DUE TO LINKAGE BINDING CAUSED BY CORROSION. THIS WOULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO RUN AT HIGHER THAN IDLE SPEED WHEN THE THROTTLE IS RELEASED AND COULD ADVERSELY AFFECT DRIVER CONTROL RESULTING IN A POSSIBLE CRASH. CORRECTION: ON VEHICLES WITH 2.9 LITRE ENGINES, DEALERS WILL CLEAN, MODIFY AND LUBRICATE THE HUB PIN AND LEVER BUSHINGS WITH A MARINE-TYPE ANTI-SEIZE GREASE. ADDITIONALLY, ON VEHICLES WITH 3.0 LITRE ENGINES, THE HUB PIN LEVER ASSEMBLY WILL BE REPLACED. NOTE: THIS RECALL HAS BEEN SUPERSEDED BY RECALL NO. 91021.
On certain vehicles, wiring for the power lumbar seat system was routed directly beneath the seat cushion springs on the side of the cushion. This could result in the insulation being abraded by the seat springs resulting in a possible short circuit with the potential for a fire in the cushion pad or trim cover. Correction: Power lumbar seat wiring will be modified and a 15 amp fuse will be added to the wiring under the seat on Aerostars. On Bronco II and Ranger Super Cab vehicles the 30 amp circuit breaker, located in the fuse panel, will be replaced with a 15 amp fuse.
ON VEHICLES WITH EFI OR CFI, THE SPRING-LOCK FUEL LINE COUPLING USED TO CONNECT THE FUEL SUPPLY AND RETURN LINES TO THE EFI FUEL RAILS OR TO THE CFI THROTTLE BODIES AS WELL AS OTHER FUEL LINE CONNECTIONS NEAR THE DASH PANELS ON SOME VEHICLES, COULD DISENGAGE DURING VEHICLE USE. SHOULD THIS OCCUR, LOSS OF FUEL WILL RESULT, PROVIDING THE POTENTIAL FOR A VEHICLE FIRE. CORRECTION: COUPLING RETAINER CLIPS WILL BE INSTALLED ON AFFECTED VEHICLES. NOTE: ESCORT VEHICLES ARE EQUIPPED WITH EFI AND CFI. LYNX VEHICLES ARE EQUIPPED WITH CFI ONLY. EFI - ELECTRONIC FUEL INJECTION CFI - CENTRAL FUEL INJECTION
VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 2.9 LITRE E.F.I.,V6 ENGINES, THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT A NYLON FUEL LINE ON THE FUEL RETURN SIDE OF THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR ASSEMBLY MAY CRACK AND LEAK FUEL. IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, THE POTENTIAL FOR FIRE WOULD EXIST.
VEHICLES MAY CONTAIN THE POTENTIAL FOR A SHORT CIRCUIT BETWEEN THE FUEL INJECTOR RETURN AND BATTERY ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS CAUSED BY THE PROXIMITY OF THE WELDS IN THE WIRING ASSEMBLY ENGINE CONTROL SENSOR. SHOULD A SHORT CIRCUIT OCCUR, THE ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP MAY ENERGIZE AND SOME FUEL INJECTORS MAY OPEN. THIS COULD RESULT IN FUEL DISCHARGING INTO THE ENGINE EVENTUALLY LEAKING FROM THE EXHAUST SYSTEM TO THE GROUND AND CREATING THE POTENTIAL FOR A VEHICLE FIRE.
EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION: AFTERMARKET BRAKE ROTORS FOR USE ON CERTAIN FORD AND MAZDA TRUCKS. CRACKED CASTINGS CAUSED CRACKS TO APPEAR ON THE OUTER DIAMETER OF THE ROTOR HAT OR AROUND THE STUD HOLE.
LOSS OF BRAKING CAN RESULT.
AIMCO WILL REIMBURSE CONSUMERS/INSTALLERS FOR THE COST OF REPLACEMENT ROTORS AND INSTALLATION. CONSUMERS ARE REQUESTED TO RETURN TO THE LOCATION WHERE THE ROTORS WERE ORIGINALLY PURCHASED/INSTALLED FOR REPLACEMENT.
WIRING FOR THE POWER LUMBAR SEAT SYSTEM WAS ROUTED DIRECTLY BENEATH THE SEAT CUSHION SPRINGS AND MAY BE ABRADED BY THE SPRINGS.
THIS COULD RESULT IN A SHORT CIRCUIT WHICH MAY CREATESUFFICIENT HEAT TO START A FIRE IN THE SEAT CUSHION PAD AND/OR TRIM COVER.
INSTALL A FUSE WITHIN THE POWER LUMBAR ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT.
SPRING LOCK FUEL LINE COUPLING MAY NOT BE PROPERLY ENGAGED.
COUPLING COULD DISENGAGE DUE TO FUEL PRESSURE,VIBRATION, AND ENGINE MOVEMENTS; THIS WOULD CAUSE LOSS OF FUEL WHICH, INPRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, CREATES A FIRE RISK.
INSTALL RETAINER CLIPS OVER THE COUPLINGS TO PREVENT COUPLING SEPARATION AND FUEL LEAKAGE.
NYLON FUEL LINES ON THE FUEL RETURN SIDE OF THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR ASSEMBLY MAY CRACK. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: FUEL LINE COULD LEAK AND, IF AN IGNITION SOURCE IS PRESENT, CREATE THE POTENTIAL FOR A FIRE.
REPLACE NYLON FUEL HOSES WITH RUBBER HOSES.
