Issue: On a small number of vehicles, the parking pawl return spring in the electric drive module may not have been installed correctly. As a result, when the transmission is shifted to Park, the vehicle could move if the parking brake isn't applied. Safety Risk: A parked vehicle that rolls away could create the risk of an injury or a crash. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, FCA Canada recommends that you should always use the parking brake when you park. FCA Canada will notify owners in writing and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the electric drive module.
Issue: On certain electric vehicles, a software problem could cause the pedestrian warning system not to work. Canadian regulations require electric vehicles to make a minimum exterior sound. Safety Risk: A pedestrian warning system that doesn't work could create an increased risk of injury for other road users. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners in writing and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the amplifier software.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the tire and loading information label does not list that there is no spare tire in both official languages. The label reads as "NONE" when it should read as "NONE / AUCUN". Canadian regulations require the information to be listed on the label in both English and French. Safety Risk: This error does not affect vehicle safety. Corrective Actions: This is not a recall. The company has corrected the tire and loading information label for all new vehicles.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the left-rear seat back striker may not have been aligned correctly. As a result, the seat back may not lock in the upright position and unrestrained cargo could move in a crash. Safety Risk: A seat back that moves in a crash could create an increased risk of injury. Additionally, cargo that moves in a crash could create a risk of injury. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect and, if necessary, adjust the left-rear seat back striker.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the side curtain airbag inflators could be defective. As a result, the driver and/or passenger side curtain airbag inflator(s) could rupture unexpectedly and metal fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants. Safety Risk: An airbag inflator that ruptures can create a risk of injury. Corrective Actions: FCA will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace both side curtain airbag modules.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the parking brake may not have been adjusted correctly. As a result, the vehicle could roll when the parking brake is set. Safety Risk: A parked vehicle that moves suddenly could increase the risk of an injury or a crash. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to properly adjust the parking brake.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the windshield may not be properly attached. As a result, the glass can become loose and could separate from the vehicle in a crash. Safety Risk: A windshield that detaches in a crash could create an increased risk of injury. Corrective Action: FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to remove and reinstall the windshield.
Issue: Certain vehicles may have incorrect or missing airbag warning labels on the driver and passenger sun visors. These labels are required under Canadian regulations. Safety Risk: Vehicles with missing or incorrect airbag warning information could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to replace the driver and passenger sun visors.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the instrument cluster may not work. Safety Risk: An instrument cluster that does not work may prevent an operator from receiving information regarding the status of vehicle systems. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to have the instrument cluster software updated.
Issue: On certain vehicles, long-term exposure to high absolute humidity and temperature, combined with high temperature cycling, may eventually degrade the propellant contained in the passenger-front airbag. This could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than normal. If the airbag inflator ruptures, fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants or cause damage to the airbag assembly, preventing its proper function. Safety Risk: If the vehicle is involved in a crash requiring an airbag deployment, the airbag inflator could rupture and create a risk of injury. Corrective Action: Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to have the passenger-front airbag inflator replaced. Note: The Canadian climate results in the propellant degrading slowly. This recall is being conducted as a precaution to address future risk. It is expected that all airbag inflators will be replaced before their function would be affected.
