Issue: On certain vehicles, the flexible steel cable that attaches the seat belt to the outside of the front seats may weaken over time. As a result, the seat belt could detach. Safety Risk: A seat belt that detaches in a crash could create an increased risk of injury. Corrective Action: Volvo will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the front-outboard seat belt anchors.
On certain vehicles equipped with power front passenger seats, the "end stops" on the seat frame rails may be missing. If the end stops are missing, the maximum allowable seat travel may be exceeded, resulting in an increased injury risk for out of position occupants in the event of a frontal collision. Correction: Dealers will inspect the front seat rails for the presence of an "end stop", and install one if necessary.
On certain vehicles, the inflatable curtains (lateral airbags) may have manufactured incorrectly. Failure of the inflatable curtain to fully deploy during a crash *where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injuries to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will inspect the left and right inflatable curtain assemblies and adjust them if necessary.
On certain vehicles, the fuel line rail cover that protects the fuel lines under the car, may not be properly attached. If the cover is not properly secured the fuel lines may become exposed and may become damaged. Damaged fuel lines may result in a fuel leak causing fire, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, reattach the fuel line rail.
On certain vehicles, the driver's seat side cover panel (seat control panel) may compromise the functionality of the seatbelt during certain driver's side crashes. Should this occur, the seatbelt anchor point may disengage, increasing the risk of personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will modify the driver's seat side cover panel.
On certain vehicles, the software within the Central Electronic Module (CEM) may not send a signal to the fuel Pump Electronic Module (PEM). This missing signal to the PEM inhibits the start of the fuel pump. The driver may be able to start the engine in spite of the fuel pump not being activated due to residual pressure in the fuel system. In some cases, the driver may be able to drive the vehicle a short distance at idle. However, the engine will eventually stall. Engine stalling would result in lost propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will upgrade the CEM software.
