If this happens, the seat belt may not hold a person in place during the crash. Safety Risk: A seat belt that doesn't work properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, the company advises that you shouldn't transport a passenger in the second-row center seat until the recall repairs are completed. Issue: On a small number of vehicles, the bolts that secure the front brake caliper mounting bracket(s) and the wheel hub(s) to the steering knuckle(s) may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the caliper(s) could move and cause the brake hose(s) to become damaged. If this happens, brake fluid could leak and cause reduced braking. Additionally, the hub bolts could loosen and cause the front wheel(s) to separate from the vehicle. Safety Risks: Reduced braking can cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash. A wheel separation could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. A wheel that separates could also create a hazard for others. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners in writing and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, tighten the front brake caliper bracket and wheel hub bolts. The dealer will replace any damaged components, as necessary.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the head restraints on the front seats may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the head restraints could move or detach from the seats in a crash. Safety Risk: Head restraints that move or detach in a crash could increase the risk of an injury. Corrective Actions: Lexus will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the front seat head restraints.
Issue: On certain vehicles, a programming error could cause the parking brake system to malfunction. If this happens, a warning light will turn on and the message "Parking Brake Malfunction, Visit Your Dealer" will display. Also, you may not be able to apply the parking brake, and if the vehicle isn't in park, it could roll away. Safety Risk: A parked vehicle that moves unexpectedly could increase the risk of an injury or a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to reprogram the skid control ECU.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the body panels near the front shock absorber mounts may be missing welds. As a result, the shock absorber mounting areas could crack over time and break. If this happens, a shock absorber could separate and cause a sudden loss of vehicle stability. Safety Risk: A loss of vehicle stability could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Lexus will contact owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the spot-welds around the front shock absorber mounting areas. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.
