Certain vehicles could experience inadvertent or non-crash driver front air bag deployment. This deployment could occur during vehicle startup, while the vehicle is parked or idling, or while in operation. Should the air bag deploy when the driver is up against or very close to the air bag, serious injuries could be sustained. Correction: Dealers will replace the driver side air bag module.
Certain vehicles may have a centre rear seatbelt anchor plate which exhibits stress cracks. In the event of a vehicle crash, the seatbelt system may fracture and injury to the seat occupant could occur. Correction: Centre rear seat belt system will be replaced.
Certain vehicles may have a strained or separated washer/wiper power feed wire. This may cause the windshield washer/wiper to work intermittently and could ultimately result in inoperative wipers. This would result in reduced driver visibility during inclement weather conditions and a crash could occur. Correction: Windshield washer/wiper switch will be replaced with a redesigned switch.
NOTE: INCLUDES COUPES ONLY AND DOES NOT INCLUDE 1993 REGAL GRAN SPORT. DEFECT: VEHICLES DO NOT COMPLY WITH C.M.V.S.S. 108 - LIGHTING EQUIPMENT. THESE VEHICLES WERE ASSEMBLED WITH INCORRECT FRONT SIDE-MARKER BULBS WHICH ARE CLEAR INSTEAD OF AMBER. DURING ILLUMINATION, THE BULBS WILL SHOW CLEAR RATHER THAN AMBER. CORRECTION: THE INCORRECT BULBS WILL BE REPLACED WITH THE CORRECT BULBS.
On certain vehicles, the rear wheel brake hose(s) may be contacting rear suspension components. This could cause the brake hose(s) to wear through, resulting in loss of brake fluid and eventual loss of the braking system. This could result in increased stopping distances and a possible crash without prior warning. Correction: Vehicles will be inspected and brake hoses found in the incorrect position will be replaced with new hoses and correctly routed.
THE FOUR (4) STEERING COLUMN SUPPORT BRACKET ATTACHING BOLTS ON THESE VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN ASSEMBLED WITH LESS THAN THE SPECIFIED TORQUE. IF THE BOLTS ARE NOT PROPERLY TORQUED, THEY MAY VIBRATE AND BECOME LOOSE OR FALL OUT. IN THE EVENT OF A FRONTAL COLLISION, THIS CONDITION COULD COMPROMISE THE INTEGRITY OF THE STEERING COLUMN AND INCREASE THE POTENTIAL FOR OCCUPANT INJURY. CORRECTION: STEERING COLUMN SUPPORT BRACKET BOLTS WILL BE TORQUED TO THE CORRECT SPECIFICATION.
NOTE: COUPES ONLY. THESE VEHICLES DO NOT COMPLY WITH C.M.V.S.S. 108 - LIGHTING. FRONT PARK/TURN SIGNAL BULB DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH CANDLE POWER. DURING ILLUMINATION, THE BULB INTENSITY MAY NOT BE SUFFICIENT TO BE OBSERVED UNDER ALL CONDITIONS. CORRECTION: BULB WILL BE REPLACED WITH THE CORRECT BULB.
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. CORROSION OF THE AIR BAG INFLATOR'S INTERNAL WIRING, WHICH CAN OCCUR OVER TIME, COULD CAUSE THE INADVERTENT DEPLOYMENT OF THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG. THIS DEPLOYMENT COULD OCCUR DURING VEHICLE START-UP, WHILE THE VEHICLE IS PARKED OR IDLING, OR WHILE IN OPERATION.
IF THE CONSUMER IS TOO CLOSE TO AN INFLATING AIR BAG, SERIOUS INJURIES COULD OCCUR.
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE INFLATORS ON THESE AIR BAGS.
THE CENTER REAR SEAT BELT ANCHOR PLATE EXHIBITS STRESS CRACKS.
