On certain vehicles, the headlight lead wire may break at the point where it is soldered to the headlight switch. This could result in loss of headlight function. Correction: Dealers will inspect the headlight lead wire and, if necessary, replace the headlight switch.
Certain vehicles do not comply with the requirements of CMVSS. 1103 - Exhaust Emissions. The average CO of the subject vehicles may exceed the standard due to insufficient robustness of emission control logic, and calibration of emission parts with extended usage. Correction: Dealers will install an engine intake kit, which will allow additional air to enter the engine, improving combustion efficiency and lowering the levels of carbon monoxide.
Certain vehicles do not comply with the requirements of CMVSS 1105 - Evaporative Emissions. Fuel vapour may leak from between the fuel cap and the fuel filler pipe. The gap could be generated by improper dimensions between the top ends of the inner and outer pipe of the fuel filler pipe. In some cases, raw fuel would be released into the atmosphere. Correction: Dealers will install a modified fuel cap o-ring.
On certain vehicles, minor undercarriage impacts can result in unnecessary air bag deployment. This could result in personal injury and/or loss of vehicle control. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the sas unit to reduce the possibility of unnecessary deployments in low speed undercarriage impacts.
On certain vehicles, an external spring in the timing belt auto tensioner may break. The broken spring may get caught in the timing belt, resulting in possible engine stalling. Correction: Vehicles will be inspected and affected tensioners will be replaced.
THE (Takata) ABS PLASTIC FRONT SEAT BELT RELEASE BUTTONS ON THESE VEHICLES MAY BREAK ALLOWING PLASTIC PIECES TO FALL INTO THE BUCKLE ASSEMBLY. IF THIS SHOULD HAPPEN, A NO LATCH, FALSE LATCH OR FAILURE TO UNLATCH CONDITION COULD OCCUR CREATING THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH OR SUDDEN STOP. CORRECTION: FRONT SEAT BELT BUCKLES WILL BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED AS NECESSARY.
AT AMBIENT TEMPERATURES BELOW -18 DEGREES CELSIUS, FROST MAY ACCUMULATE WITHIN THE THROTTLE BODY UNDER CONDITIONS OF EXTENDED CONSTANT SPEED OPERATION. THIS COULD RESULT IN A HEAVY ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND CAUSE UNEVEN THROTTLE VALVE RETURN. CORRECTION: THE SINGLE STAGE ENGINE COOLANT THERMOSTAT WILL BE REPLACED WITH A DUAL STAGE THERMOSTAT EQUIPPED WITH A SUBVALVE TO INCREASE THE TEMPERATURE WITHIN THE THROTTLE BODY. V.I.N. RANGE: JM1GD3120J1500014 TO JM1GD2226J1573252.
TRANSPORTATION BY RAIL COULD CAUSE THE REAR BRAKE SHOE WEB TO COME OFF THE WHEEL CYLINDER PISTON GROOVE. THIS CONDITION WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE WHEEL CYLINDER DUST BOOT AND MAY CAUSE DUST AND WATER INTRUSION INTO THE WHEEL CYLINDER RESULTING IN PISTON CORROSION. THIS WOULD INHIBIT REAR BRAKE EFFECTIVENESS. CORRECTION: VEHICLES WILL BE INSPECTED AND WHEEL CYLINDER DUST BOOT WILL BE REPLACED WHERE REQUIRED. ALL INVOLVED VEHICLES WILL HAVE LUBRICANT APPLIED TO THE WHEEL CYLINDER PISTON GROOVE. V.I.N. RANGE: JM1GD3120J1500014 TO JM1GD2218J1541323
THE FUEL TANK STRAPS MAY NOT BE PROPERLY TIGHTENED AND MAY RUB AGAINST THE FUEL TANK. THIS COULD CAUSE THE TANK'S PROTECTIVE COATING TO WEAR THROUGH RESULTING IN SURFACE DAMAGE AND EVENTUAL TANK PERFORATION AND FUEL LEAKAGE. CORRECTION: RUBBER INSULATOR WILL BE PLACED BETWEEN THE TANK STRAPS AND THE TANK AND THE TANK STRAPS WILL BE PROPERLY TIGHTENED. ALSO, A NEW PROTECTIVE COATING WILL BE APPLIED WHERE REQUIRED. V.I.N. RANGE: JM1GD3120J1500014 TO JM1GD2210J1537936
