Issue: On certain vehicles, the engine may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the engine could make abnormal noises and a warning light may turn on. If you continue to drive the vehicle with these symptoms, the engine could fail. Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with 1.5 L or 2.0 L variable compression engines. Safety Risk: An engine failure could cause a sudden loss of power to the wheels and/or increase the risk of a vehicle fire. Both issues could increase the risk of a crash or injury. Corrective actions: The company will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the engine. On certain vehicles, the dealer will also update the engine control module.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the wrong door latch may have been installed in the front passenger door. As a result, the automatic locking function won't work on that door. An unlocked door could open in a crash. Safety Risk: A door that opens in a crash could increase the risk of injury. Corrective Actions: Infiniti will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the right-front door lock assembly.
Issue: On certain vehicles, a bracket that secures the engine block heater wiring harness in the engine compartment may be missing. As a result, the wiring could be damaged by contact with the engine drive belt. If this happens, the wiring could overheat or melt when the block heater is plugged in. Safety Risk: Engine block heater wiring that overheats or melts could create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Nissan will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect, and if necessary, install the missing bracket for the block heater wiring. The dealer will also inspect the engine drive belt and surrounding area for any damage. Nissan recommends that you should not use the engine block heater until the recall inspection and repairs have been completed.
