Chinese-built vehicles decode through the same endpoint as every other VIN, with the same identity card, the same refs, and the same price per call. A decode names the model, the model year and the powertrain, and links straight to specs, recalls and market quotes. For the full response shape and batch decoding, see Decode a Canadian VIN.

Sample VINs

Real vehicles. Paste any of them into the call above. Battery-electric, plug-in hybrid, and export gasoline models all decode.

Model, year and plant

A Chinese WMI does not name a model, and neither does the vehicle descriptor on its own: the same descriptor can carry a different car at a different plant. Every rule we ship is pinned to three parts of the VIN together:

TEXT
LC0CE4CB0P0384865
   │││││ ││
   │││││ │└─ Plant (11): 0
   │││││ └── Model year (10): P = 2023
   └┴┴┴┴──── Descriptor (4-8): CE4CB

In 2025, LC0CE4CB at plant 4 is a BYD Yuan Up and at plant 6 a Yuan Plus: same descriptor, same year, different car. Reading all three is what makes the decode name the right one. The combination is also the nano grain in the response, so you can group Chinese VINs the same way offline with @cardog/entities.

Send us a VIN

Holding Chinese VINs we should see? Send them to POST /v2/feedback. It costs nothing.
