Issue: On certain vehicles, the input shaft snap ring in the power transfer unit (PTU) may not have been installed properly. As a result, the PTU could become damaged and fail. If this happens, there could be a loss of power to the wheels and/or the vehicle could move when it's parked and the parking brake isn't applied. Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with a two-speed PTU. Safety Risk: A loss of power to the wheels or a parked vehicle that moves suddenly could create the risk of an injury and/or a crash. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners in writing and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the drivetrain control module and install a diagnostic software that will monitor the PTU and warn you if it detects a problem. If you see this warning, you should contact a dealership to arrange for the replacement of the PTU.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the tire and loading information label does not list that there is no spare tire in both official languages. The label reads as "NONE" when it should read as "NONE / AUCUN". Canadian regulations require the information to be listed on the label in both English and French. Safety Risk: This error does not affect vehicle safety. Corrective Actions: This is not a recall. The company has corrected the tire and loading information label for all new vehicles.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the rearview camera image may be displayed even after the transmission is shifted out of reverse. This could cause a possible distraction for the driver. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to turn off within 10 seconds after shifting from reverse gear. Safety Risk: A driver that is distracted could have an increased risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: FCA Canada will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to update the radio software.
Issue: Certain vehicles may have been built with a gear in the steering rack that was not properly hardened. As a result, the gear could break and cause a loss of steering. Safety Risk: A loss of steering control could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to replace the steering gear.
Issue: On certain vehicles, a problem with the airbag sensors could cause the airbag system not to properly detect certain types of crashes. This problem could result in the airbags not deploying properly in a crash. Note: This problem would cause the airbag warning light to stay on in the instrument cluster. Safety Risk: Airbags that do not deploy properly in a crash could increase the risk of injury. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the affected sensors. If your airbag warning light stays on, you should contact a local dealership and have your vehicle serviced immediately.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the front-passenger seat mounts may not have been properly tightened. Safety Risk: A seat that moves in a crash could result in an increased risk of injury. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a dealer to inspect and, as necessary, tighten the front-passenger seat mounting fasteners.
On certain vehicles equipped with a 2.4 L engine, a problem with the transmission controller programming may cause the engine to stall while driving. This could result in a loss of motive power and increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will update the transmission controller with a new calibration.
Certain vehicles may have been built with a defective powertrain controller. If the powertrain controller fails while driving the engine may stall, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the powertrain controller.
On certain vehicles, a problem with the brake system may cause gas bubbles to form in the brake fluid. This could cause a soft brake pedal feel and a reduction in brake performance, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will bleed the rear brakes as necessary.
The engine on one vehicle may have been built with a missing valve stem keeper. This may cause an engine failure, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: The dealer will inspect and repair the engine as required.
