4X4 LIGHT DUTY TRUCKS. THE DRIVER SIDE UPPER TORSO RESTRAINT RETRACTOR ATTACHING BRACKET ASSEMBLY WAS IMPROPERLY MODIFIED AT THE ASSEMBLY PLANT AND MAY FAIL TO WITHSTAND THE STRENGTH REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL SAFETY STANDARD 210 - SEAT BELT ANCHORAGES.
THE PARK CAM PLATE STOPS IN THE TRANSMISSION EXTENSION HOUSING MAY BE MISLOCATED DUE TO CORE SHIFTING. THIS CONDITION MAY RESULT IN THE PARKING PAWL NOT ENGAGING WHEN THE SELECTOR LEVER IS PLACE IN THE "PARK~ POSITION. THIS MAY ALLOW AN UNATTENDED VEHICLE TO ROLL FREE IF THE PARKING BRAKE IS NOT ENGAGED.
VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 15X6 INCH STANDARD OR OPTIONAL STYLED STEEL WHEELS. POSSIBILITY THAT THE SUBJECT WHEELS CONTAIN MAHCINE TOOLING MARKS IN THE RIM BEADSEAT AREA. THIS CONDITION CAN RESULT IN RIM BEADSEAT SPLITTING AT HIGH MILEAGE PERMITTING A RAPID LOSS OF AIR FROM THE TIRE, SIMILAR TO A TIRE BLOWOUT.
VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 300 C.I.D. ENGINES AND CARTER IV CARBS. A WORN, TAPERED THREAD TAPPING TOOL WAS USED INSTEAD OF THE SPECIFIED STRAIGHT THREAD TAPPING TOOL. THE NON-UNIFORM THREAD COULD ALLOW GASOLINE LEAKAGE FROM THE FUEL FILTER TO CARBURETOR CONNECTION CREATING THE RISK OF AN UNDERHOOD FIRE.
SAFETY COMPLIANCE CERTIFICATION LABELS AND VEHICLE DOCUMENTS INCORRECTLY SHOW THE GROSS AXLE WEIGHT RATING (GAWR) TO BE ABOUT 0.6 TO 6.0 PERCENT GREATER THAN THE COMBINED LOAD CAPACITY OF THE TIRES AT THEIR SPECIFIED INFLATION PRESSURE. NEW LABELS AND DOCUMENTS WILL BE ISSUED TO SHOW REVISED GAWR.
VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH C-6 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. SOME AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS HAVE PARK ACTUATION CAM SUPPORT PLATES THAT MAY BREAK DUE TO IMPROPER HEAT TREATMENT. FRAGMENTS FROM THE BROKEN PLATE CAN PREVENT THE PARKING PAWL FROM ENGAGING WHEN THE SELECTOR LEVER IS PLACED IN THE PARK (P) POSITION OR MAY PREVENT THE PARK GEAR FROM DISENGAGING. THIS DEFECT MAY ALLOW A PARKED VEHICLE TO ROLL FREE IF THE MANUAL PARKING BRAKE HAS NOT BEEN ENGAGED.
VEHICLES MAY NOT HAVE HAD THE PITMAN ARM TO STEERING GEAR ATTACHMENT NUT TORQUED CORRECTLY. THE NUTS COULD LOOSEN AND FALL OFF ALLOWING THE PITMAN ARM TO SEPARATE FROM THE STEERING GEAR RESULTING IN A LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND POSSIBLE VEHICLE CRASH.
