Audi Q3 Recalls

Summary

Issue: On certain vehicles, a problem with the camera control unit could cause the rearview camera image not to display after shifting into reverse or after activating the parking assistance function. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the camera control unit software.

Summary

Issue: On certain vehicles, the passenger occupant detection system may malfunction. This could cause the airbag system to turn off the passenger-front airbag even when a passenger is seated. Note: This problem would cause a yellow airbag warning light to turn on in the instrument panel. Safety Risk: An airbag that is turned off could increase the risk of injury to a passenger in a crash. Corrective Actions: Audi will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the passenger seat occupant detection system control module.

Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that does not display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Issue: On certain vehicles, the software update for recall 91CR (Transport Canada Recall 2021-642) may not have been performed correctly. As a result, a second repair is required. Under certain conditions, a software problem could cause a delay before the rearview camera image appears. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display within 2 seconds of shifting the transmission into reverse gear. Safety Risk: A rearview camera that is slow to turn on could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Summary

Issue: On certain vehicles, the ESC warning light may not remain on if a fault was detected on the previous key cycle. Instead, the warning light does not turn on until the vehicle starts to move. Canadian regulations require that the ESC warning light must turn on when the vehicle is started (under these conditions). Note: This problem can only happen if there is a fault related to the power steering system. The power steering warning light would stay on to advise that there is a fault with the steering system. Safety Risk: This small error does not affect vehicle safety. Corrective Actions: This is not a recall. The company has made changes to the vehicle software to correct this issue on all new vehicles.

Summary

Issue: On certain vehicles, if the front turn signal light fails, the driver would not be alerted by a fast-flashing turn signal indicator. Canadian regulations require this to happen so a driver knows when a turn signal light is not working. Safety Risk: A loss of turn signal function, without a warning to the driver, could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to update the body control module software.
