Full recall reportIssue: Under certain conditions, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image to be blocked. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display while the transmission is in reverse gear. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Rivian will notify owners by email. Rivian has released an over-the-air software update to fix this problem. There is no further action required if your vehicle has software release 2026.23.0 or a later release.

Rivian Automotive, LLC (Rivian) is recalling certain 2022-2027 R1S, 2022-2026 R1T, and 2027 R2 vehicles. The rearview camera image may be obstructed by a notification when in reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."
Potential consequence
An obstructed rearview camera image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Rivian has released an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 9, 2026. Owners may contact Rivian customer service at 1-888-748-4261. Rivian's number for this recall is FSAM-1866. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov on November 9, 2026.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the second-row outboard seat belt retractor(s) may not have been installed properly. As a result, the seat belts could loosen or detach in a crash. Safety Risk: A seat belt that detaches in a crash could increase the risk of injury. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, Rivian recommends that you shouldn't transport passengers in the second-row outboard seats until the recall repairs are completed. Rivian will notify owners by email and advise you to take your vehicle to a Rivian service center to inspect and, if necessary, secure the seat belt retractor(s).

Potential consequence
An improperly secured seat belt retractor may not adequately restrain the seat occupant, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
Remedy
