UNDER EXTREMELY LOW TEMPERATURE OPERATING CONDITIONS AND INFREQUENT BRAKE OPERATION THERE IS THE POSSIBILITY THAT CONDENSED MOISTURE FROM A SURGE TANK MIGHT SEEP INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER VACUUM HOSE AND FREEZE. OVER TIME, THE ICE MAY ACCUMULATE AND EVENTUALLY PLUG THE HOSE, THEREBY ELIMINATING THE VACUUM ASSIST TO THE BRAKES. THE INCREASED PEDAL PRESSURE REQUIRED TO APPLY THE BRAKES COULD LEAD TO AN INCREASE IN STOPPING DISTANCE AND A POSSIBLE VEHICLE ACCIDENT. CORRECTION: BRAKE VACUUM HOSE WILL BE REPLACED WITH A NEWLY CONFIGURED VERSION.

United States records (NHTSA) · 1

These are NHTSA campaigns for 1997 Toyota Avalon vehicles sold in the United States. They are not Canadian recalls: NHTSA's VIN lookup has no Canadian data, and a US campaign may have no Canadian counterpart, or one under a different number covering different vehicles. For a vehicle sold in Canada, go by the Transport Canada listing above and Toyota's Canadian VIN lookup.
