Summary

Issue: On certain vehicles equipped with 4-wheel drive (4Matic), the transmission wiring harness may not be routed correctly. As a result, water could enter the wiring harness connector and cause a short circuit. Note: This recall is an expansion of Transport Canada recall no. 2024-342. Safety Risk: A short circuit can create the risk of a fire, even while the vehicle is parked and turned off. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the transmission wiring harness.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the bolt for the 48 V ground connection may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the wiring could overheat and melt. Safety Risk: Wiring that overheats and melts can create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, tighten the ground connection.

Additionally, the dealer will install a bracket to improve the routing of the transmission wiring harness.

Summary

Issue: On certain vehicles equipped with the emergency calling (eCall) system, the SIM card for the communications module could disable itself. If this happens, the eCall system would not work properly when there is a crash or when the SOS button is pressed. Safety Risk: If the eCall system does not work in an emergency situation, there could be a delay in response from emergency services. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update to each vehicle. If the update cannot be completed successfully, you will be notified to schedule an appointment to have the update performed by a dealer.
