Summary
Issue: On certain vehicles, the driveshaft may detach from the transmission flange. This could cause a loss of power to the drive wheels. Safety Risk: A loss of power to the drive wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to inspect, and if necessary, replace the carbon-fiber driveshaft.
Summary
Certain Roadster(convertible) models may have been built with incorrect software in the airbag control unit, and may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 208 - Occupant Protection in Frontal Impacts. In the event of a lower speed crash, this could cause the airbag to deploy with more force than necessary, which could increase the risk of injury for an out-of-position passenger. Correction: Dealers will update and correct the airbag control unit software.
Summary
On certain vehicles, the seat belt may bind within the seat belt guidance loop. If the seat belt were to bind, a slack in the seat belt may develop, which in the event of a crash, may not restrain the occupant as intended, and increase the risk of injury. Correction: Dealers will remove the spacer disc in the seat belt guidance loop and add an additional sliding component to guide the belt.

Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2016-2018 AMG GT vehicles. The bonding between the carbon-fiber driveshaft and the flange may be insufficient, which could result in driveshaft separation.
Potential Consequence
A separated driveshaft may cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the carbon-fiber driveshaft, as necessary, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed October 15, 2021. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2021090008.
