Summary
Issue: On certain vehicles, an engine software update may have been performed incorrectly. This could cause trouble codes to not be stored when the ignition key is turned off. If a fault was present, this could cause a warning lamp not to light up the next time the engine is started. Safety Risk: A warning lamp that does not turn on may not provide a driver with important information about vehicle safety systems. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to update the engine software. Note: This is an expansion of recall 2018-662.

Summary
On one vehicle, an engine software update may have been performed incorrectly, causing diagnostic trouble codes to not be stored when the ignition key is turned off. If a fault was present, this could cause the warning lamp not to light when the engine is next started. This could create a situation where the driver is not provided with important information about vehicle safety systems, which may increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Summary
Automobili Lamborghini (Lamborghini) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Gallardo Coupe and Gallardo Spyder vehicles. The Engine Control Unit (ECU) software may erase trouble codes after the ignition is turned off, not illuminating warning lamps and preventing drivers from being warned of safety system problems the next time that they are driving.
Potential Consequence
If the warning lamps do not indicate a safety system failure such as an engine or fuel injection system malfunction, continuing to drive the vehicle with a faulty system and no warning can increase the risk of a crash or injury.
Remedy
Lamborghini will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the engine software with the appropriate procedure, free of charge. The recall began December 14, 2018. Owners may contact Lamborghini customer service at 1-866-681-6276. Lamborghini's numbers for this recall are L61XR0118/L615R0218.
