On certain vehicles equipped with a full-time four-wheel drive system, the transfer case controller could fail. This could cause the transfer case to shift into or through the neutral position, which may allow the vehicle to roll away, even with the transmission in the PARK position. Should the vehicle roll away, it could strike another vehicle, stationary object, or a bystander, causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the final drive controller with updated software.

The side curtain airbag will still timely deploy and meet and exceed applicable safety standards. Correction: Dealers will install a bracket and foam block behind the "B" pillar upper trim cover to improve side curtain airbag positioning in the event of a deployment. This action is a Customer Satisfaction Campaign and is not being conducted as per the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

United States records (NHTSA) · 3

These are NHTSA campaigns for 2009 Jeep Commander vehicles sold in the United States. They are not Canadian recalls: NHTSA's VIN lookup has no Canadian data, and a US campaign may have no Canadian counterpart, or one under a different number covering different vehicles. For a vehicle sold in Canada, go by the Transport Canada listing above and Jeep's Canadian VIN lookup.
