On certain pickup trucks located in Ontario, Quebec and the Maritime provinces, corrosion of the hood secondary latch return spring may cause the hood secondary latch to become inoperative, possibly allowing the hood to open unexpectedly if the primary hood latch mechanism is not engaged. Such an occurrence could block driver vision and result in possible loss of control and a crash. Correction: A new secondary hood latch that incorporates a stainless steel spring will be installed on affected vehicles.

Certain pickup trucks were built with an ignition switch and wiring that may overheat under certain operating conditions. High electrical current loads pass through the switch when the blower motor is operated on high for an extended period of time. The extensive current load can cause the ignition switch and wiring to overheat, possibly resulting in a vehicle fire. Correction: Vehicles will have a relay and overlay harness installed. In addition, the ignition switch and wiring will be inspected and replaced as necessary.

On certain pickup trucks equipped with a diesel or V-10 engine, the front suspension spring/shock towers may crack and eventually separate from the vehicle frame. If the left side tower cracking goes undetected by the operator and separates from the frame, the shock tower may damage the rear wheel brake lines. If this happens, this may result in reduced system pressure creating the potential for increased stopping distances. Correction: Spring/shock towers will be inspected and vehicles exhibiting cracking will have the towers replaced with a tower that incorporates reinforcement. Vehicles that do not exhibit cracking will have a weld on reinforcement added.

On certain 4 x 4 pickups equipped with an 8.0 litre V10 engine, Under certain heavy duty applications, such as driving up a steep grade in four wheel drive with a full load, the local exhaust temperature proximate to the hydraulic clutch line may generate line temperatures that exceed the temperature limit of the clutch line material. If this operating condition occurs and the clutch is depressed, the line may rupture and fluid may ignite on the hot exhaust potentially causing a vehicle fire. Correction: The hydraulic clutch line will be altered to prevent line melting due to exhaust system heat transfer.

On certain Ram 3500 vehicles, the headlamp switches used in this truck series operate under a high current load which results in switch internal temperatures above the 100 degree centigrade limit for the internal lubing grease. This heat will cause the grease to break down and increase the resistance in the switch resulting in eventual switch failure. Correction: Headlamp switches will be replaced and a relay will be included in the park lamp wiring circuit causing the headlamps or park lamps to go out.

On certain vehicles, the transmission fluid temperature could exceed the melting point of the connector which retains the fluid line to the transmission. On certain vehicles, the engine driven vacuum pump may introduce engine oil into the vacuum hoses due to the absence of an internal check valve. The oil may cause the hose to deteriorate and partially collapse, reducing the vacuum supply to the brake booster. Correction: A vacuum pump check valve will be added at the vacuum pump and the vacuum hose connected to the pump will be replaced with one that is resistant to engine oil.

1995 Dodge Ram recall questions
Transport Canada lists 14 recalls for the 1995 Dodge Ram model year. That counts campaigns naming this model year, not recalls on your vehicle: many cover only a VIN range or production window, and some only vehicles found on inspection. NHTSA lists 17 United States campaigns for the US-market model, shown separately; a US campaign may have no Canadian equivalent.
Enter your VIN in Dodge's Canadian recall lookup, or call a Dodge dealer with your VIN. In Canada the manufacturer is responsible for showing recall and repair status for each VIN, so its lookup is the authoritative answer. Cardog uses your VIN only to find the model year; the recalls shown here are listed for that model year and are not matched to your VIN.
Not necessarily. NHTSA campaigns cover vehicles sold in the United States, and NHTSA's VIN lookup has no Canadian data. When a defect also affects Canadian vehicles, the manufacturer files a separate notice with Transport Canada, often under a different number and sometimes covering a different set of vehicles. For a Canadian vehicle, go by the Transport Canada listing and Dodge's Canadian lookup.
Safety recall repairs are normally done at no charge by an authorized Dodge dealer. The manufacturer's notice for each campaign sets out the remedy and any conditions, so confirm with the dealer when you book.
Once Dodge's lookup or a dealer confirms a recall applies, book the repair with an authorized Dodge dealer and bring your VIN. If the manufacturer's notice says not to drive the vehicle or to park it outside, follow that instruction. Parts can take time, so book early.
Follow the manufacturer's notice for that recall. Most allow normal driving until the repair; some tell owners to stop driving or to park outside until it is fixed. Cardog does not grade recalls by severity: the manufacturer's notice and your dealer are the source.
Manufacturers must notify owners they have on record. If you bought the vehicle used or have moved, update your details with Dodge Canada so notices reach you, and check the manufacturer's lookup from time to time.
