On certain vehicles, an electrical "ground out" condition between the 12 volt junction block and the metal inner fender skirt may cause a melted junction block, smoke and burned underhood wiring. This could result in a disabled vehicle or a vehicle fire. This condition can occur while the vehicle is in operation, or with the vehicle parked and the ignition in the "OFF" position. Correction: Junction blocks will be inspected for corrosion and a shielding insulator will be installed under the junction block where required.

These are NHTSA campaigns for 1992 Chevrolet Caprice vehicles sold in the United States. They are not Canadian recalls: NHTSA's VIN lookup has no Canadian data, and a US campaign may have no Canadian counterpart, or one under a different number covering different vehicles. For a vehicle sold in Canada, go by the Transport Canada listing above and Chevrolet's Canadian VIN lookup.
