VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: CLASS 8 HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS. THE AIR SUSPENSION CONTROL VALVE SUPPLY LINE WAS NOT PLUMBED THROUGH AN AIR PRESSURE PROTECTION VALVE. IN THE EVENT OF A FAILURE, THERE WOULD BE LOSS OF AIR PRESSURE IN THE 'B' SYSTEM AIR RESERVOIR THAT SUPPLIES AIR PRESSURE FOR THE FRONT STEER AXLE BRAKES.
THIS CONDITION WOULD RESULT IN INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCES.
DEALERS WILL INSTALL THE NECESSARY AIR PRESSURE PROTECTION VALVE.

THE REAR MOST AXLE OF THE TANDEM AXLE SET COULD HAVE INOPERABLE BRAKES ON ONE OR BOTH WHEELS BECAUSE THE BRAKE S-CAM WAS INCORRECTLY INSTALLED.
THIS CONDITION COULD CAUSE INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE INCREASING THE POTENTIAL FOR A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.
DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE BRAKE SYSTEM AND REPAIR THE S-CAM ASSEMBLY IF FOUND REVERSED.

THE TRACTION SOLENOID EXHAUST CAN BE OBSTRUCTED DUE TO INADEQUATE DRAINAGE AND A BUILD-UP OF ROAD CONTAMINATION BETWEEN THE MOUNTING BRACKET AND THE SOLENOID HOUSING. THE OBSTRUCTED EXHAUST PREVENTS THE RELAY VALVE CONTROL AIR PRESSURE FROM VENTING AFTER A DIFFERENTIAL BRAKING TRACTION EVENT.
THIS CONDITION WOULD KEEP THE REAR AXLE SERVICE BRAKES APPLIED WITHOUT ANY BRAKE PEDAL MOVEMENT BY THE DRIVER INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.
DEALERS WILL REMOVE THE SUSPECT VALVE AND INSTALL A NEW VALVE THAT HAS A MODIFIED SOLENOID HOUSING WHICH WILL ALLOW FOR SUFFICIENT DRAINAGE AND A NEW VALVE MOUNTING BRACKET WITH INCREASED HEIGHT TO REDUCE ENTRY OF CONTAMINATION.

THE REAR SUSPENSION AXLE RETENTION PLATE CAN BREAK UNDER NORMAL USE, AFFECTING AXLE ALIGNMENT.
THIS CONDITION COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF REAR AXLE STABILITY AFFECTING VEHICLE DIRECTIONAL CONTROL AND INCREASING THE POTENTIAL FOR A VEHICLE CRASH.
DEALERS WILL REMOVE AND REPLACE THE AXLE RETENTION CLIP PLATES ON AFFECTED VEHICLES.

UNDERCOATING APPLIED TO THE INSIDE OF THE CAB SHELL SQUEEZED OUT DURING ASSEMBLY ONTO THE BRAKE PEDAL PLUNGER.
UNDERCOATING ON THE PLUNGER MAY CAUSE THE PLUNGER TO STICK RESULTING IN INCREASED BRAKE PEDAL EFFORT AND/OR SLOW RELEASE OF THE BRAKES INCREASING THE POTENTIAL FOR A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.
DEALERS WILL CLEAN THE UNDERCOATING FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL PLUNGER ASSEMBLY, LUBRICATE AND REINSTALL THE BRAKE PEDAL PLUNGER ASSEMBLY.

These are Transport Canada campaigns for 1995 Volvo Wg vehicles sold in Canada. A Canadian campaign may have no US counterpart, or one under a different number covering different vehicles. For a vehicle sold in the United States, go by the NHTSA listing above and NHTSA's VIN lookup.
On certain vehicles, the air ride suspension control valve supply line is not plumbed through an air pressure protection valve. In the event of an air suspension bag failure, there will be loss of air pressure in the "b" system which supplies air pressure to the front steer axle brakes. This could result in loss of front steer axle brakes and increased stopping distances. Correction: Air pressure protection valve will be installed.

DUE TO HYDROGEN EMBRITTLEMENT, THE KING PIN USED IN THE VOLVO 5.7 (12,500 LB) FRONT STEER AXLE MAY HAVE BEEN BROKEN DURING ASSEMBLY OF THE AXLE. CONTINUED OPERATION OF A VEHICLE WITH A BROKEN KING PIN MAY ALLOW THE PIN TO WORK LOOSE, CAUSE ERRATIC STEERING, AND RESULT IN POTENTIAL FOR LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND A VEHICLE CRASH. CORRECTION: VEHICLES WILL BE INSPECTED AND KING PIN REPLACED IF REQUIRED.

1995 Volvo Wg recall questions
NHTSA lists 6 recalls for the 1995 Volvo Wg model year. That counts campaigns naming this model year, not recalls on your vehicle: many cover only a VIN range or production window. Transport Canada lists 4 Canadian campaigns for the Canadian-market model, shown separately.
Enter your VIN in NHTSA's recall lookup or Volvo's own, or call a Volvo dealer with your VIN. Cardog uses your VIN only to find the model year; the recalls shown here are listed for that model year and are not matched to your VIN.
Not necessarily. Transport Canada campaigns cover vehicles sold in Canada. For a vehicle sold in the United States, go by the NHTSA listing and NHTSA's VIN lookup.
Safety recall repairs are normally done at no charge by an authorized Volvo dealer. The manufacturer's notice for each campaign sets out the remedy and any conditions, so confirm with the dealer when you book.
Once Volvo's lookup or a dealer confirms a recall applies, book the repair with an authorized Volvo dealer and bring your VIN. If the manufacturer's notice says not to drive the vehicle or to park it outside, follow that instruction. Parts can take time, so book early.
Follow the manufacturer's notice for that recall. Most allow normal driving until the repair; some tell owners to stop driving or to park outside until it is fixed. Cardog does not grade recalls by severity: the manufacturer's notice and your dealer are the source.
Manufacturers must notify owners they have on record. If you bought the vehicle used or have moved, update your details with Volvo so notices reach you, and check NHTSA's lookup from time to time.
