These are Transport Canada campaigns for 2016 Volvo 9700 vehicles sold in Canada. A Canadian campaign may have no US counterpart, or one under a different number covering different vehicles. For a vehicle sold in the United States, go by the NHTSA listing above and NHTSA's VIN lookup.
Issue: On certain buses, the instruction label for how to use the entrance door as an emergency exit may not be clear. This could delay occupants from escaping the bus in an emergency. Safety Risk: Unclear emergency exit instructions could cause confusion and delay occupants from exiting the bus during an emergency, increasing the risk of injury. Corrective Actions: Prevost will notify owners by mail and provide you with a new emergency exit label and instructions for where to install it. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the label installed at an authorized Prevost service center.

Issue: Certain buses were built with headlamps that may not meet the performance requirements of Canadian regulations. As a result, the headlamp beam pattern may be too bright in some areas and not be bright enough in others. Safety Risk: Headlamps that are too bright could cause glare for oncoming drivers. Headlamps that are not bright enough may reduce visibility. Both of these issues could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Volvo Buses will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.

Issue: On certain buses, the C1 drive hub in the transmission may fail. If this happens, there could be a loss of power to the drive wheels when the bus comes to a stop. This can disable the bus and make it unable to move under its own power. Note: This recall only affects certain buses built with an Allison B500 transmission. Safety Risk: A bus that is disabled could create the need for a transfer of passengers in an uncontrolled environment, which may create a risk of injury. Corrective Actions: Volvo will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a Volvo service center to update the Transmission Control Module software.

Issue: On vehicles equipped with a fire suppression system that includes a Kidde KDS-25 fire extinguisher, there may be a problem with the electric actuator on the fire extinguisher. This could cause the fire extinguisher not to discharge when it is activated. Safety Risk: In a fire, an extinguisher that does not work could increase the risk of injury and/or property damage. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to contact Prevost, who will inspect extinguishers and repair as necessary.

2016 Volvo 9700 recall questions
NHTSA lists no recalls for the 2016 Volvo 9700 in our latest copy of its database. That is not a clearance for your vehicle: campaigns can be issued at any time, and NHTSA's VIN lookup is the record. Transport Canada lists 5 Canadian campaigns for the Canadian-market model, shown separately.
Enter your VIN in NHTSA's recall lookup or Volvo's own, or call a Volvo dealer with your VIN. Cardog uses your VIN only to find the model year; the recalls shown here are listed for that model year and are not matched to your VIN.
Not necessarily. Transport Canada campaigns cover vehicles sold in Canada. For a vehicle sold in the United States, go by the NHTSA listing and NHTSA's VIN lookup.
Safety recall repairs are normally done at no charge by an authorized Volvo dealer. The manufacturer's notice for each campaign sets out the remedy and any conditions, so confirm with the dealer when you book.
Once Volvo's lookup or a dealer confirms a recall applies, book the repair with an authorized Volvo dealer and bring your VIN. If the manufacturer's notice says not to drive the vehicle or to park it outside, follow that instruction. Parts can take time, so book early.
Follow the manufacturer's notice for that recall. Most allow normal driving until the repair; some tell owners to stop driving or to park outside until it is fixed. Cardog does not grade recalls by severity: the manufacturer's notice and your dealer are the source.
Manufacturers must notify owners they have on record. If you bought the vehicle used or have moved, update your details with Volvo so notices reach you, and check NHTSA's lookup from time to time.
