On certain Volvo 780, 944SE and 945SE, there is the possibility of chafing of the insulation on the cables feeding the seat heater, power seat motors and seatbelt warning indicator. This could lead to a low amp short circuit. These cables are located under the front seat. Correction: Cables will be inspected and if necessary, repaired or replaced.

On certain vehicles, if subjected to flood conditions (e.g. soaked carpeting/standing water on floor of vehicle), or if the car has been flood damaged in any way, the airbag may inadvertently deploy while starting the engine resulting in possible serious personal injury. On certain Volvo 740, 760 and 940, the seatbelts for the auxiliary seat are designed to be routed under a diagonal cross brace during fastening. The labeling which instructs the user in the proper routing is inadequate. As a result, the belt may be routed over the brace, and this may make it possible for the belt to be inadvertently released. Correcton: Proper instructional labels will be installed on seats. In addition, new buckle assemblies will be installed.

On certain Volvo 764, 782 and 944 equipped with an 80 litre fuel tank, if the three conditions of high ambient temperatures, overfilling of tank and insufficient torque on the sending unit lock ring existed simultaneously, seepage of fuel could occur from the top of the tank. In the presence of an ignition source, a fire could result. Correction: Dealers will inspect for signs of seepage. If no seepage is found, the sending unit lock ring will be retorqued. If seepage is found, the lock ring gasket will be replaced. All vehicles will also be fitted with an additional clamp around the lock ring.

1991 Volvo 900 Series recall questions
NHTSA lists no recalls for the 1991 Volvo 900 Series in our latest copy of its database. That is not a clearance for your vehicle: campaigns can be issued at any time, and NHTSA's VIN lookup is the record. Transport Canada lists 4 Canadian campaigns for the Canadian-market model, shown separately.
Enter your VIN in NHTSA's recall lookup or Volvo's own, or call a Volvo dealer with your VIN. Cardog uses your VIN only to find the model year; the recalls shown here are listed for that model year and are not matched to your VIN.
Not necessarily. Transport Canada campaigns cover vehicles sold in Canada. For a vehicle sold in the United States, go by the NHTSA listing and NHTSA's VIN lookup.
Safety recall repairs are normally done at no charge by an authorized Volvo dealer. The manufacturer's notice for each campaign sets out the remedy and any conditions, so confirm with the dealer when you book.
Once Volvo's lookup or a dealer confirms a recall applies, book the repair with an authorized Volvo dealer and bring your VIN. If the manufacturer's notice says not to drive the vehicle or to park it outside, follow that instruction. Parts can take time, so book early.
Follow the manufacturer's notice for that recall. Most allow normal driving until the repair; some tell owners to stop driving or to park outside until it is fixed. Cardog does not grade recalls by severity: the manufacturer's notice and your dealer are the source.
Manufacturers must notify owners they have on record. If you bought the vehicle used or have moved, update your details with Volvo so notices reach you, and check NHTSA's lookup from time to time.
