THE THREADED INSERT FOR THE OIL FILTER RETAINING BOLT MAY NOT BE STRONG ENOUGH TO WITHSTAND THE STRESS CAUSED BY TEMPERATURE AND PRESSURE, PARTICULARLY IN THE EVENT THAT THE OIL FILTER BOLT HAS BEEN OVERTIGHTENED.
DEALER WILL INSTALL A DIFFERENT TYPE OIL FILTER BOLT OF INCREASED STRENGTH.

IF THE COUNTERSHAFT OIL SEAL IS SUBJECTED TO EXTREME OIL PRESSURE VARIATION, THE COUNTERSHAFT OIL SEAL MAY BE SPLIT, ALLOWING OIL TO LEAK. LEAKING OIL CAN COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE REAR TIRE, WHICH CAN RESULT IN TRACTION REDUCTION.
COUNTERSHAFT OIL SEAL WILL BE REPLACED AND A MODIFIED "OIL PATH BODY" WILL BE INSTALLED TO REDUCE THE OIL PRESSURE AT THE COUNTERSHAFT OIL SEAL. REPAIRS WILL BE PERFORMED AT NO CHARGE TO OWNER.

These are Transport Canada campaigns for 1979 Honda Cb750 vehicles sold in Canada. A Canadian campaign may have no US counterpart, or one under a different number covering different vehicles. For a vehicle sold in the United States, go by the NHTSA listing above and NHTSA's VIN lookup.
On certain CB750K, the threaded insert (oil filter boss) for the oil filter retaining bolt may not withstand the stress cause by engine temperature and pressure (particulartly when the oil filter bolt has been over tightened). Should the oil filter boss break, the oil filter will come off allowing oil to fall on the road surface. The oil may come in contact with the rear tire causing a reduction in traction affecting vehicle control.

On certain CB750KZ, extreme engine oil pressure variation, such as caused when the engine is repeatedly revved-up immediately after starting in cold weather, could cause the countershaft oil seal to split allowing a leakage of oil. If the rider is unaware of the leak and operates the vehicle, oil may come in contact with the rear tire resulting in a reduction of traction.

1979 Honda Cb750 recall questions
NHTSA lists 2 recalls for the 1979 Honda Cb750 model year. That counts campaigns naming this model year, not recalls on your vehicle: many cover only a VIN range or production window. Transport Canada lists 4 Canadian campaigns for the Canadian-market model, shown separately.
Enter your VIN in NHTSA's recall lookup or Honda's own, or call a Honda dealer with your VIN. Cardog uses your VIN only to find the model year; the recalls shown here are listed for that model year and are not matched to your VIN.
Not necessarily. Transport Canada campaigns cover vehicles sold in Canada. For a vehicle sold in the United States, go by the NHTSA listing and NHTSA's VIN lookup.
Safety recall repairs are normally done at no charge by an authorized Honda dealer. The manufacturer's notice for each campaign sets out the remedy and any conditions, so confirm with the dealer when you book.
Once Honda's lookup or a dealer confirms a recall applies, book the repair with an authorized Honda dealer and bring your VIN. If the manufacturer's notice says not to drive the vehicle or to park it outside, follow that instruction. Parts can take time, so book early.
Follow the manufacturer's notice for that recall. Most allow normal driving until the repair; some tell owners to stop driving or to park outside until it is fixed. Cardog does not grade recalls by severity: the manufacturer's notice and your dealer are the source.
Manufacturers must notify owners they have on record. If you bought the vehicle used or have moved, update your details with Honda so notices reach you, and check NHTSA's lookup from time to time.
