These are Transport Canada campaigns for 2026 BMW 2 Series vehicles sold in Canada. A Canadian campaign may have no US counterpart, or one under a different number covering different vehicles. For a vehicle sold in the United States, go by the NHTSA listing above and NHTSA's VIN lookup.
Issue: On a small number of vehicles, a body panel behind the right tail light housing may not have been sealed properly. As a result, water could leak into the trunk and cause the park distance control and electronic power steering not to work. Additionally, over time, wiring in the trunk could become damaged and cause a short circuit or electrical arcing (sparks). Note: This problem would cause a warning to display in the instrument cluster. Safety Risk: A loss of power steering assist can cause a sudden increase in steering effort, especially at low speeds, and increase the risk of a crash. A short circuit or electrical arcing can create the risk of a fire or injury. Corrective Actions: None of the affected vehicles have been delivered to customers. BMW will instruct dealers to inspect and, if necessary, apply seam sealer to the body panel before each vehicle is delivered.

Issue: On a small number of vehicles, a problem with the rear lamps could cause the taillamps, stop lamps and/or rear turn signals not to work. Note: This problem would cause a warning message to display. Safety Risk: Stop lamps, and/or turn signals that don't work could cause a person not to recognize that a vehicle ahead is braking or intends to turn or change lanes. Taillamps that don't work could make the vehicle less visible to others. These issues could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: BMW will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the affected rear lamps.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the rear outboard seat belt(s) may have been damaged during production. As a result, the seat belt(s) may not hold a person in place during a crash. Additionally, the seat belt(s) may not properly lock to secure a child seat. Note: The vehicle's lower universal anchorage system (UAS) is not affected by this defect and may still be used to secure a child seat. Safety Risk: A seat belt that doesn't work properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, the company advises that you shouldn't transport passengers in the rear outboard seats until the recall repairs are completed. The company will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the left and/or right rear seat belt(s), as necessary.

2026 BMW 2 Series recall questions
NHTSA lists no recalls for the 2026 BMW 2 Series in our latest copy of its database. That is not a clearance for your vehicle: campaigns can be issued at any time, and NHTSA's VIN lookup is the record. Transport Canada lists 3 Canadian campaigns for the Canadian-market model, shown separately.
Enter your VIN in NHTSA's recall lookup or BMW's own, or call a BMW dealer with your VIN. Cardog uses your VIN only to find the model year; the recalls shown here are listed for that model year and are not matched to your VIN.
Not necessarily. Transport Canada campaigns cover vehicles sold in Canada. For a vehicle sold in the United States, go by the NHTSA listing and NHTSA's VIN lookup.
Safety recall repairs are normally done at no charge by an authorized BMW dealer. The manufacturer's notice for each campaign sets out the remedy and any conditions, so confirm with the dealer when you book.
Once BMW's lookup or a dealer confirms a recall applies, book the repair with an authorized BMW dealer and bring your VIN. If the manufacturer's notice says not to drive the vehicle or to park it outside, follow that instruction. Parts can take time, so book early.
Follow the manufacturer's notice for that recall. Most allow normal driving until the repair; some tell owners to stop driving or to park outside until it is fixed. Cardog does not grade recalls by severity: the manufacturer's notice and your dealer are the source.
Manufacturers must notify owners they have on record. If you bought the vehicle used or have moved, update your details with BMW so notices reach you, and check NHTSA's lookup from time to time.
