Summary

Issue: On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the backlight for the hazard light switch not to work, or to turn off while driving. As a result, you may not be able to see the switch in low light conditions. Safety Risk: A hazard light switch that is difficult to see could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Volvo Trucks will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to update the vehicle master control unit software.

Summary

Issue: On certain trucks, poor signal strength could cause the electronic control unit (ECU) to stop working or not to work properly. As a result, some safety systems may not work, including the antilock braking system, automatic traction control, electronic stability control, active cruise control and the collision mitigation system. Note: For the VNR model, this recall affects only the VNRe model. Safety Risks: Vehicle safety systems that don't work correctly could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Volvo will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to reprogram the ECU software.

Issue: Under certain conditions, a software problem may cause the throttle signal to be inverted. If this happens, the engine may not return to idle. As a result, the trucks don't meet certain requirements of Canadian regulations. Note: This recall only affects certain trucks equipped with a Cummins X15d engine. Safety Risk: An engine that doesn't return to idle could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Volvo Trucks will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to update the electronic control unit software.

Summary

Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2022-2025 Volvo VN and 2025 New VN trucks. The idler gear bracket fasteners may have been improperly tightened, allowing the idler gear to detach from the engine.

Potential Consequence

A detached idler gear can damage the engine, resulting in a stall and increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy

Summary

Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Volvo VN vehicles. When the Controller Area Network (CAN) communications are interrupted and the vehicle is in limp mode, an incorrect accelerator pedal signal can result in unintended acceleration. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 124, "Accelerator Control Systems."
