Summary

Issue: On certain vehicles, there could be a software problem with the dash electrical supply unit. Safety Risk: A windshield defroster and/or a 360-degree view monitor that doesn't work could cause reduced visibility and increase the risk of a crash. A seat belt warning that doesn't work correctly may not remind you and/or passengers to buckle your seat belt. Not wearing your seat belt can increase the risk of injury in a crash. Summary

Issue: On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image to flicker or not to appear on the display. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse gear. Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with a dynamic guideline rearview monitor and/or the 360-degree monitor. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that does not display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Mazda will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the view monitor control module software.

Summary

Issue: On certain vehicles, the vehicle may make a reverse warning sound when the gear selector is in a position other than reverse. As a result, the vehicles don't meet the requirements of the Canadian regulations. Safety Risk: Audible warnings that don't work correctly could create confusion and increase the risk of injury for pedestrians and cyclists. Corrective Actions: Mazda will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to reprogram the software for the Approaching Vehicle Audible System (AVAS) Information Sound Box (ISB) amplifier. To minimize the safety risk, Mazda recommends that you should move the shift lever slowly when shifting from 'P' to 'N' or from 'P' to 'D' and pause for at least one second at the 'R' position until the recall repairs are completed.
