On certain vehicles, heat generated by the engine causes repeated bending deformation of the polypropylene cooling fan and its retaining ring, which stresses the polypropylene, initiating cracking of the blades. The centrifugal forces generated by the rotation of the blades can cause the cracks to propagate until complete separation occurs. Separation of the fan blade(s) can create a risk of personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the engine cooling fan blade assembly.

United States records (NHTSA) · 3

These are NHTSA campaigns for 2002 Kia Sportage vehicles sold in the United States. They are not Canadian recalls: NHTSA's VIN lookup has no Canadian data, and a US campaign may have no Canadian counterpart, or one under a different number covering different vehicles. For a vehicle sold in Canada, go by the Transport Canada listing above and Kia's Canadian VIN lookup.
