Summary
Issue: On certain vehicles, the driver-front airbag inflator could rupture when the airbag deploys in a crash. If this happens, the airbag may not fully inflate and fragments could be propelled toward vehicle occupants. Safety Risk: An airbag inflator that ruptures can create a risk of injury or death. Corrective Actions: Hyundai will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the driver-front airbag inflator.

As a result, the front airbags and seat belt pretensioners could deploy when the vehicle is stopped or moving at slow speeds. Safety Risk: Airbags or seat belt pretensioners that deploy without a crash could create a risk of injury and may also increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Hyundai will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your car to a dealer to update the software for the airbag control unit.

On certain vehicles equipped with side curtain air bags, a bracket securing the headliner could become dislodged during side curtain airbag deployment and be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. Correction: Dealers will install industrial adhesive strips to the vehicle headliner.

Summary
Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2010-2012 Elantra Touring vehicles manufactured December 15, 2009, through May 7, 2012. The affected vehicles have a support bracket attached to the headliner that may become displaced during a side curtain airbag deployment.
Potential Consequence
If the headliner support bracket makes contact with an occupant during a crash, it may cause a laceration injury.
Remedy
Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will apply adhesive strips to the headliner, free of charge. The recall began on July 28, 2014. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-800-633-5151. Hyundai's number for this recall is 117.
