REGULAR CAB TWO WHEEL DRIVE LIGHT TRUCKS WITH A 6,200 OR 6,900 POUND GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT RATING (G.V.W.R.). THESE VEHICLES WERE INADVERTENTLY PRODUCED WITH 1980 MODEL RATHER THAN 1979 MODEL FRONT DISC BRAKE HUB AND ROTOR ASSEMBLIES. THIS CONDITION MAY ALLOW THE INNER BRAKE LINING/SHOE TO MOVE TO A POSITION WHERE IT IS NO LONGER RETAINED IN THE SHOE SLOT WHEN THE INNER BRAKE LININGS BECOME WORN. THE INNER BRAKE SHOE COULD THEN WEDGE BETWEEN THE ROTOR AND SPINDLE POSSIBLE CAUSING A SUDDEN LOCK-UP OF ONE FRONT WHEEL. THIS CONDITIO COULD ALSO RESULT IN A LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID FROM THE FRONT SYSTEM.
FOUR WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES. CERTAIN FRONT WHEEL DRIVE ASSEMBLIES CONTAIN STEERING ARM KNUCKLES THAT COULD FRACTURE AND CAUSE DETACHMENT OF THE STEERING LINKAGE TIE ROD. THIS CONDITION COULD RESULT IN A LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND POSSIBLE VEHICLE CRASH.
VEHICLES WERE MANUFACTURED WITHOUT A FUEL TANK SHIELD AT THE RIGHT FRONT CORNER OF THE MIDSHIP FUEL TANK. THIS CONDITION ALLOWS THE MIDSHIP FUEL TANK TO CONTACT THE TRANSMISSION EXTENSION HOUSING OR THE DRIVESHAFT FRONT UNIVERSAL JOINT WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IMPACTED INTO A FIXED BARRIER AT 30 M.P.H. IN ACCORDANCE WITH CANADA MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD 301 - FUEL SYSTEM INTEGRITY. THE RESULTANT FUEL SPILLAGE COULD EXCEED THE MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE AMOUNTS BY THE SAFETY STANDARD.
