Issue: On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the vehicle is reversing. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the SYNC software.
Issue: On certain vehicles, the front axle shafts may not have been installed properly. As a result, the front axle shaft(s) could become damaged and/or separate from the transmission, and cause a sudden loss of power to the wheels. Additionally, if the vehicle is parked and the parking brake isn't applied, the vehicle could roll away. Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Safety Risk: A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. A parked vehicle that moves suddenly could create a risk of a crash or an injury. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the axle shaft(s).
Issue: On certain vehicles, the engine oil pump tensioner and/or the engine oil pump drive belt could fail and cause a loss of engine oil pressure. If this happens, the engine could fail and cause a loss of power to the wheels and a loss of power braking assist. Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with a 1.0L engine. Safety Risk: A sudden loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. A loss of power brakes can cause an increase in brake pedal force and lead to an increase in stopping distance. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the oil pump drive belt tensioner assembly. The dealer will also replace the oil pump drive belt.
Issue: On one vehicle, there may be a problem with the passenger-front airbag inflator. As a result, the airbag may not deploy properly in a crash. Safety Risk: An airbag that does not work properly could create an increased risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: Ford will notify the owner and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to replace the passenger-front airbag module.
