1983-87 E-250 AND 350 WITH 7.5 LITRE AND 1985-87 HEAVY DUTY E-250 AND 350 WITH 5.8 LITRE 4V ENGINE AND A GVW OVER 8,500 LBS. THESE VEHICLES HAVE BEEN DETERMINED TO GENERATE EXCESSIVE UNDERBODY TEMPERATURES AND FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURES IN SEVERE DUTY APPLICATIONS, PARTICULARLY IF FUELED WITH OVERLY VOLATILE GASOLINE. THIS CAN CREATE AN ABNORMAL POTENTIAL FOR EXPULSION OF LIQUID FUEL FROM THE FILLER PIPE UPON REMOVAL OF THE FUEL TANK FILLER CAP. IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, A VEHICLE FIRE COULD OCCUR. CORRECTION: VEHICLES WILL BE MODIFIED TO MINIMIZE THE POSSIBILITY OF FUEL EXPULSION AND SHIELD UNDERBODY COMPONENTS FROM EXCESSIVE UNDERBODY HEAT. NOTE: E250 AND 350 CLUB WAGONS AND ECONOLINE VANS AND CHASSIS.
E350 RV AND COMMERCIAL CUTAWAY ECONOLINE VEHICLES. SOME VEHICLES WHERE COMPLETED WITH BODIES WHICH RESTRICTED THE DISSAPATION OF UNDERBODY HEAT.IN SUCH A CASE EXTENDED IDLING COULD OVERHEAT THE COMPOSITE GRAPHITE DRIVESHAFT AND,IF A HIGH START UP TORQUE APPLIED,TWIST AND SHORTEN THE DRIVESHAFT CAUSING THE SLIP YOKE TO DISCONNECT. CORRECTION:METAL DRIVESHAFTS WILL BE INSTALLED.
CARBURETOR THROTTLE SHAFTS MAY BE SUSCEPTIBLE TO DIRT CONTAMINATION AND WEAR OF THE BEARING COATINGS. THIS COULD CAUSE THE SECONDARY THROTTLE PLATES TO REMAIN PARTIALLY OPEN AFTER THE DRIVER HAS RELEASED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THIS THIS WERE TO OCCUR, ENGINE SPEED WOULD NOT RETURN TO IDLE POTENTIALLY AFFECTING VEHICLE CONTROL AND STOPPING DISTANCES.
THESE VEHICLES MAY NOT COMPLY WITH CMVSS 1103 - EXHAUST EMISSIONS. VEHICLES WITH 5.8 LITRE ENGINES AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS ARE AFFECTED
THE ARC WELDS SECURING THE WHEEL CENTRE SECTIONS TO THE RIMS MAY BE SUSCEPTIBLE TO FATIGUE CRACKING. IF SUCH CRACKS WERE TO PROPOGATE, THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR A GRADUAL LOSS OF TIRE PRESSURE OR SEPARATION OF THE WHEEL RIM AND TIRE ASSEMBLY FROM THE VEHICLE. THIS COULD CAUSE LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL.
TRUCKS WITH 5.8 LITRE ENGINES. THESE VEHICLES DO NOT COMPLY WITH CMVSS 1103 - HYDROCARBON AND CO.
CERTAIN FEDERAL-MOGUL AFTERMARKET FUEL PUMPS SOLD UNDER THE BRAND NAMES OF CARTER, ACCUFLOW, NAPA, TRUFLOW, PARTS DEPO, AND PARTS MASTER, SHIPPED BETWEEN AUGUST 2006 AND JULY 2007 FOR USE ON THE VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE. THE FUEL PUMP DIAPHRAGM IN CERTAIN PRODUCTION RUNS MAY HAVE BEEN IMPROPERLY INSTALLED OR INADEQUATELY TESTED WHICH MAY CAUSE THE FUEL PUMP TO LEAK.
A LEAKING FUEL PUMP COULD CREATE A VEHICLE FIRE HAZARD.
FEDERAL-MOGUL WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMPS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 15, 2007. OWNERS CAN CONTACT FEDERAL-MOGUL AT 248-354-7700.

FUEL LEAK AT THE TOP OF THE FRONT FUEL TANK IN THE AREA OF THE VAPOR VALVE GROMMET. GROMMET MAY SPLIT DUE TO COMPRESSIVE LOAD WHEN INSTALLED IN THE FUEL TANK.
FUEL MAY LEAK FROM VAPOR VALVE AND BECOME THE SOURCE OFFUEL FOR A FIRE.
