Issue: Under certain conditions, the rearview camera image may not appear on the center screen. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the transmission is shifted into reverse gear. If the rod detaches, there would be an increase in brake pedal travel/force required to stop the vehicle. This can result in reduced brake performance. Safety Risk: Reduced brake performance can cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Volkswagen will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer inspect the brake booster input rod and electronic brake booster. Depending on the results of the inspection, the dealer may replace the input rod mounting and electronic brake booster, as required.
