Summary

Issue: On certain vehicles, covers were not installed over the horizontal headlamp adjusters. As a result, the headlamps may be adjusted horizontally. Canadian regulations do not allow for horizontal headlamp adjustment unless the vehicle is equipped with a built-in aiming device. Safety Risk: Headlamps that are not properly adjusted could cause reduced visibility or glare for oncoming drivers, and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Porsche will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to install caps over the headlamp adjustment screws.

Summary

Issue: On certain vehicles, the rear axle carrier side mounts may crack and eventually break. If both mounts break while driving, there could be a sudden loss of vehicle control. Safety Risk: A loss of vehicle control could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Porsche will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the rear axle carrier side sections.

Summary

Issue: On certain vehicles, the airbag electronic control unit could be damaged by an electrical fault. This could cause the airbag system not to work properly in a crash. It could also result in a deployment of the airbags and/or seat belt pretensioners without a crash. Safety Risk: Airbags that do not work properly in a crash could create an increased risk of injury. Airbags or seat belt pretensioners that deploy without a crash could create a risk of injury and also increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to inspect the airbag control module. If an electrical fault is detected, the airbag control module will be replaced.

Summary

Summary

On certain vehicles the front hood lock may have been improperly manufactured. The front hood lock upper components, on which the catch bar are riveted to the mounting plate, were not produced according to specifications. This could result in the hood opening unexpectedly while the vehicle is being driven. This could compromise the driver’s ability to see the road and its users, as well as cause damage to the windshield, which could result in a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the upper part of the lock on the front hood.

Summary

On certain vehicles, a defective wiring harness in the passenger seat may result in the deactivation of the passenger side frontal and knee airbags, illuminating the airbag warning lamp. Failure of the passenger airbags to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will replace the passenger seat in affected vehicles.

Summary

On certain Boxster Spyder models, it is possible that the locking hook on the sun shield (temporary soft top) may not engage correctly into the lock catch which is positioned on the windscreen frame of the vehicle. If the sun shield is not fully locked, the sun shield can open when travelling at higher speeds increasing the risk of a crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will replace the locking hook and lock catch with redesigned components.

THE IGNITION SWITCH HOUSING MAY CRACK WHICH MAY CAUSE THE IGNITION KEY TO STICK DURING ACTUATION. A CONSEQUENCE OF A STICKING KEY MAY BE FAILURE OF VARIOUS ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS INCLUDING HEADLAMPS AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS. CORRECTION: DEPENDING ON THE VIN RANGE, VEHICLES WILL EITHER HAVE THE COMPLETE STEERING LOCK WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED WITH A NEW DESIGN OR ONLY THE IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED WITH A NEW DESIGN.
