Issue: On certain vehicles, the airbag electronic control unit (ECU) could be damaged by an electrical fault. This could cause the airbag system not to work properly in a crash. It could also result in a deployment of the airbags and/or seat belt pretensioners without a crash. Safety Risk: Airbags that do not work properly in a crash could create an increased risk of injury. Airbags or seat belt pretensioners that deploy without a crash could create a risk of injury and also increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to replace the airbag ECU.

This could decrease the door latch strength and potentially allow the door to open when subjected to crash forces. This could increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property.
