    Issue: On certain vehicles, the recall repairs completed by a Mercedes-Benz dealer during recall 5491309 (Transport Canada recall no. 2022-397) may not have been done correctly. As a result, a second repair is required. On certain vehicles equipped with 4-wheel drive (4Matic), the transmission wiring harness may not be routed correctly. As a result, water could enter the wiring harness connector and cause a short circuit. Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2022-397. Safety Risk: A short circuit can create the risk of a fire, even while the vehicle is parked and turned off. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the transmission wiring harness.

If this happens, the post-crash safety systems (like the emergency calling (eCall) system, electric seat adjustment, hazard warning lights, and automatic door unlocking) may not work. Safety Risk: Safety systems that don't work correctly could increase the risk of injury. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to add a bracket to better secure the battery.

Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the connector on the transmission wiring harness, and repair it if necessary. Additionally, the dealer will install a bracket to improve the routing of the transmission wiring harness.
