Issue: On certain vehicles, the recall repairs completed by a Mercedes-Benz dealer during recall 5491309 (Transport Canada recall no. 2022-397) may not have been done correctly. As a result, a second repair is required. On certain vehicles equipped with 4-wheel drive (4Matic), the transmission wiring harness may not be routed correctly. Issue: On certain vehicles equipped with the emergency calling (eCall) system, the SIM card for the communications module could disable itself. If this happens, the eCall system would not work properly when there is a crash or when the SOS button is pressed. Safety Risk: If the eCall system does not work in an emergency situation, there could be a delay in response from emergency services. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update to each vehicle. If the update cannot be completed successfully, you will be notified to schedule an appointment to have the update performed by a dealer.
